Hanna was indeed thinking hard about the time in the Institution. The bad food, the awful people, the bad staff, the place was like a prison was the bottom line. She just kept thinking about it from the time she went home to when she would meet up with Kile again the next day. She hates thinking about how she had to spend a year in that place through no fault of her own. Here is what was going through her mind.
----Flash back
Hanna was being transported on a bus of the year previous the people she was with half of them were in strait jackets and the other half were too high to care. Hanna was neither of these things. The bus driver finally arrived at the institution in the far off town of clarks mountain. The bus driver put the bus to a halt, as they exited the bus there were two people in white jackets for every one patient. The high people had an easier time being shown too their rooms.
Now as Hanna exited the bus she simply went peacefully to her room even in her jacket. She didn't even look up to notice it was still daytime out she was still so tired after the day she had she just wanted to get any sort of rest. Unfortunately sleep would be the last pill she would be dosed with that day. That would seem like hours as every day did seem from that point until she was finally released. The first day would not be the longest she had spent in the institute though.
Not even 20 minutes went by when the doctors came and brutally took her from her room to run experiments on her in an observation room where they tied her down and injected Hanna with all sorts of medicines. This made the days seem longer and the nights seem like they would never come, and she wondered if, as she laid there unable to move, there was anybody else they were running these test on. Her answer to this question came too soon as she could hear the screams of other victims in the observation room. Hanna was then thrown back into her white room where she watched the unmoving walls move for what seemed like hours.
Hanna had really been tired, but now the doctors and wardens would run experiments on her that night and for the whole year to come, even some she would never know of. Hanna would now become sleep deprived for the next few days. After a week Hanna was finally given some time to sleep she was not the subject of sleep deprivation from then on. Other experiments would follow though and always the medicines and screams of other patients she would hear in the observation room. Hanna would never give the wardens or doctors the satisfaction of her pain.
Finally after a year of being drugged, as if she was living the same day after that first week for over 300 days. She was finally going home. She expected to be welcomed home by her family, her expectations would not be fulfilled. What she came home to was an empty house her parents had abandoned her and left a note saying "Hanna we are on our way to better places the house is yours now. We will miss you much don't try finding us there is not a place on this planet you will be able to find us on. We heard your coming home in two weeks. We wish we could have stayed, but there are important things out there. We will miss you so much." That was a letter she kept with her. Kile came home from school soon after.
Seeing Hanna on her front porch Kile was very excited to see his girlfriend again. He came running up her porch yelling "Hanna! Your back!" He waited for a moment only for her to reply "No thanks to you" as she pushed him back with much anger rejection and confusion coursing through her body. "You don't call you don't visit and the first thing you do is try to hug me!? What's wrong with you? What's wrong with you!? " she repeated. Kile replied sternly " I tried too call they said you didn't want to talk to anyone and I did visit, but security escorted me out saying I was putting myself in danger." Hanna whispered "typical" Kile said "what" and got the response " nothing". Hanna then gave Kile a hug and cried for a while. Kile didn't ask why he just held her close.
End flash back
Hanna finally fell to sleep. Stretched across her futon, as she cried herself to sleep as she did lately. No amount of noise in the world could wake her from her slumber. That night was a night she wanted to forget, but would remember for a long time. The last normal night in the neighborhood. The last night she would wake up with a full night of sleep.
