"Harvey is everything to me, sometimes i wish his dad was here to say the same"-Alexis

“Harvey” I screamed aloud, my voice echoing through the halls of my empty home, my 3 year old son was hiding somewhere again, I heard his cute little giggles I rolled my eyes knowing he was upstairs playing with his new toys his nanny had brought him.

The doorbell rung loudly through my empty 3 bedroomed house, I rushed to the door to pull it open to find a very smiling mother, I grinned pulling her into a massive hug.

“Where’s my favourite boy” She gushed, ever since March 12th Harvey’s birth date my mum had already gotten attached from the moment she held him and he clung to her little finger, I smiled flicking the kettle on hearing his size 2 feet running across the carpeted stairs in the hallway upstairs

“Nanna nanna!” His childish voice screamed before running into my mums open arms and giggling as she placed sloppy kisses over his face, I stood with my arms crossed and leaning against the counter smiling at the close relationship they both had, I was blessed to have my mum by my side. Of course there was a big argument between all of us, I was 18 and pregnant and my boyfriend left.

“Nanna no!” I was snapped out of my trance to see my little boy his little hands pushed against my mums face as she playfully tried to kiss him.

“Momma tell her” I looked at him with my eyebrows raised making him look down.

“Momma tell nanna I mean please momma!” I laughed grabbing him and attaching him to my hip, mum taking over the teamaking, I shouted back the amount of sugars I wanted to be put in my tea before walking Harvey back into the living room where his toy trucks lay all over the floor, he wiggled out of my grip and began playing gleefully.

“Thanks mum” I smiled up as she passed me my tea, I cradled it with my hands making goose bumps arise on my skin.

“I’ve got work tonight mum, you can look after him right” I asked nicely

“Course babe” I smiled back at my mum before going upstairs and getting into my waitress outfit which consisted of black pinstriped trousers and a white V neck which had, Susies Dinner written on the pocket. I checked the time seeing it was 6 O’clock and work started at 7,It took half an hour to get there plus traffic I shout be getting off.

“You be good for nanny and do as your told and bed time at 8” I spoke softly yet demanding to my little boy, he was never a naughty boy he was very charming for his age of course his speech was a little behind but he was smart, which I could promise you he got from his daddy.

I watched as Justin walked into maths half an hour late, he dragged himself over to the seat next to me before pressing a soft kiss to my cheek

“Babe late again” I rolled my eyes jokingly

“Sure thing baby, gotta look good for you Love” He cheesed over at me making me blush and giggle.

I looked down at his sheet of work which was almost answered

“Are you serious? You’ve just walked in and already get the topic?” I was stressed it annoyed me how smart he really was

“Knowledge babe got too much” He winked making me laugh.

“I will momma!” He kissed my cheek and whispered an I love you which made me mentally aw him and reply with an I love you more baby boy, he giggled before running back to his toy transformer.

“Alright see you later mum, thanks again for this!” I hugged my mum kissing her cheek.

“Ah don’t worry darling, I love spending time with my little man, I love you, don’t over work yourself and make sure you eat” I laughed and rolled my eyes at my mums over protectiveness that still never faded I mean come on I’m 21, I nodded waving out my car window at my mum and my little boy squished against the window making me giggle and shake my head.

After 45 minutes, I arrived at the small yet busy diner, smiling at the regular customers before walking round the back.

“Heya Dan” I smiled at the owner of the place, he’s 52 his wife previously owned the diner before she sadly passed away but left it in his name,I grabbed my apron before wrapping it round my waist and sticking my pen in my pocket with my notepad before walking out to take orders.

I walked over to table 34 first where 3 boys sat.

“Hi what can I get you tonight?” I smiled

“A slice of you” I rolled my eyes disgusted, after a while they finally told me wanted.

“Chris we got a 3 burger meals” I shouted back to the chef, who was also elderly and smiled, he nodded and within minutes the food was on the side and ready to serve, I served a few more tables whilst it calmed down.

“Hi what can I get- Liv?!” I whisper shouted looking down at my best friend who smiled up at me and shyly waved, I looked over at Dan who nodded laughing, I sat down across from her.

“What you doing here!” I smiled; she’d been over in Alaska to see her boyfriend of 2 years

“Came to see if my best friend could get off early and eat ice cream and watch tearjerkers” She smiled sadly

“No, no he didn’t” I Gasped dramatically, causing her to nod and a tear to fall, I got up and pulled her into my chest kissing her head, I looked up to see Dan looking at us with a “Just go look”, I walked over towards him.

“Dan are you sure, I can stay I don-“I started but soon got cut off.

“Don’t worry, your shifts almost over plus its empty in here, we’ll be ok go back to my favourite little guy” He gushed, I giggled I took Harvey to work once, we couldn’t find him but then we did sitting under a customer’s table eating a tub of nutella. I put all my things in my work locker before grabbing my purse and taking Olivia back to my house.

After a longer drive we arrived back at my house, I told mum to go home and checked on my son who was out cold, mouth agape. I grabbed a pot of Cookie Dough Ben&Jerry’s and a spoon before flopping next to Olivia, pulling her into my side so her head rested on my shoulder and munched on my ice cream.

“And he just, he ended it because we live to far apart I just I don’t get it, he’s been fine with it why now does he feel that it’s not working” She cried in my shoulder.

“Momma” I heard a whine from the door making me get up, yet freeze in my spot.

“Harvey where did you get that shirt” I asked looking at the Toronto Maple Leaf shirt he was wearing, which belonged to his dad, Bieber written on the back. I blinked the tears back before picking him up.

“I found it momma, its daddies isn’t it?” I nodded, Olivia was now asleep, the spoon hanging out her mouth and the ice cream on the floor, I chuckled taking the spoon before she chocked placing it on the side as well as the ice cream, before walking back and placing Harvey on my lap and ran my fingers through his muggy blonde hair, something else he got from his dad.

I looked down at Harvey taking in his features, everything representing his dad, his nose the same, his eye colour, the only thing of mine he had was his attitude and lips, I huffed aloud I carried him for 9 months and he doesn’t look a thing like me, Harvey is everything to me, sometimes I just wish his dad was here to say the same.

I’m 21, a single mum and I’m lonely.
