Pigeon Talon walked in with oak leaves in her mouth. Eagle Dapple tipped her head to one side. "What's with the bunches of leaves?" She asked.
"Msh Mmmning hrmms." She tried to say something but it disn't come out correctly. "Is that so!" purred a cat settles behind Eagle Dapple. "Quite interesting!" It was Rue. "Healing herbs?" She mewed. Pigeon Talon nodded her head. "Oak leaves." Pigeon Talon mewed. "Can help with infections," she added. "You're right." Rue purred.
"Do you know about herbs, Rue?" Pigeon Talon meowed bending down to pick up the leaves again.
"A bit. But not a lot." She replied. Pigeon Talon's eyes brightened. She padded to Rue's side and set the leaves down. "Care to share with me?" she asked.
"Of course!" She purred. "By the way have you seen Thresh anywhere?"
"Come on Thresh!" Curly Branch squealed. The tom was half running half hobbling, almost as if his leg weren't phasing him. "You little runners are too fast for me." He meowed and flopped onto his belly. Rue purred. "Thresh was always playful with kits. Never said if he wanted any of his own though." She shrugged and walked by Pigeon Talon to the den where she had healing herbs;not many but some could qualify as good remedies.
"You can see there isn't much here.." Pigeon Talon mewed. "But we're trying to build it up incase someone gets hurt." She watched Rue walk into the roomy den filled with leaves and plants. "Hm. Some I seem to recognize. You have poppyseeds, it helps a cat sleep in case of stress and such. Ah, borage leaves for she-cats with kits." The brown and black she-cat meowed.
"How about this one?" Pigeon Talon mewed pointing at clump of roots witn tall-stemmed dark leaves attached to it.
"Now that's burdock root I believe. Seeing as how you all don't live near rats, it does do plenty for infection." Rue explained.
Pigeon Talon's eyes sparkled. "And, this one?" she mewed pawing at a large leaf with a tangy smell.
Rue examined it for a brief moment. "Dock." She replied.
Pigeon Talon looked at Rue. "She sounds like she knew what she was talking about." she murmered.
"She's the best cat anycat could ever know." Rue mewed.
"It sounds as if she's passed on..." Pigeon Talon spoke softly.
Rue blinked. "Oh no! She's very much alive. She's told me stories of cats that walk the sky ever since I was a kit. She called them starry walkers." She mewed.
Pigeon Talon nodded. "Well that's much better." she purred. "I'm sure the kits would love to hear the stories your mother told you."
"I'm sure they would!" Rue chirped happily, a gleam in her yellow eyes.
"What would we like?" Curly Branch squeaked looking up at the two she-cats.
"Do you want to hear a wonderful story my mother told me?" Rue purred getting herself comfortable.
"Oh yes!" Curly Branch squealed rushing towards her with her littermates following her. "Have you ever heard of the starry walkers?" She mewed to the three little kits in front of her.
"Star walkers?" Stone Frost mewed, tipping his head to one side.
"They're magnificent cats. Stars in their fur and eyes. From their ears to the tips of their tails." Rue explained.
"Wow!" Stone Frost mewed while his littermates inched closer, clearly interested in what she said.
"Did you know they shared everything together?" She asked.
"Really?" Hawk's Cry asked, his whiskers twitching.
Light Mist started to cough. "Argh! Hargh! Argh!" She sniffed. Pigeon Talon's ears pricked and she bounded over to the pale gray she-cat. "Are you alright?" She asked her.
"Nothing. Probably just a mouse bone lodged in my," Light Mist coughed again. A bit of red liquid dribbling from her muzzle to the grass at her very paws. It was blood.
