"Try that slice again Thresh!" Dove's Pelt encouraged eagerly. The black tom lunged for Leaping Breeze while he tackled her.
"So this is how you learn to fight?" The black tom asked, shaking his fluffy fur of dirt.
"Of course! Fighting is how we survive." Leaping Breeze meowed.
"What's there to protect ourselves from?" Gray Sky asked.
"Wolves, badgers, stoats, foxes, those rogues." Gorse Feather reminded him, rolling her eyes. Fish Scar blinked watching the group. But he blinked and eyed the prey heap. "We are healthy and happy." He told himself almost aloud.
"I've noticed no threats. The ancestors haven't given me any signs. Perhaps they aren't furious with us anymore." Pigeon Talon meowed. "Perhaps." The mackerel tabby tom agreed. "Here we come, Mama!" Hawk's Cry squealed. "We want to hunt just like you!" Curly Branch mewled. Stone Frost bounded after them. "Yeah! We'll catch the best prey!" He added. The tortoiseshell she-cat purred in amusement. "Oh my sweets. How I wish for that, but you're all so young." She mewed kindly.
"But we want to do something for the group! Like hunt and fight!" Curly Branch protested.
"You'll get your turn to contribute my kin, but not now. Patience will lead you to being big and strong like your mother. Or Fish Scar." Dapple Spots meowed as Silver Leaf padded beside him. "Hey! What do you say I teach you three how to play a little game?" He purred. Their eyes brightened up and they bounded after the silver tabby tom on fast small paws. Deer Snout padded up to Gray Sky, a purr in her throat. The gray tom smiled at her. The two had become more than friends overtime. Running Fern padded in with two fish in his jaws. "There's no way those nasty rogues are going to cheat us out of our fish. Or our mice." He meowed.
"Running Fern! You're wet again!" Dove's Pelt meowed with laughter.
"Oh yes and I suppose a fish is just going to fly out of the water and into your mouth?" Light Mist joked. The she-cat had started to feel better slightly.
"Glad to see you're feeling a bit better Light Mist." The gray she-cat meowed to her littermate her black ears pricking with glee. The pale gray she-cat purred and smiled at her sister. It had been a while ever since Light Mist had just started to feeling better. She had been in Pigeon Talon's den for days. Only now had she just started to feeling better. She was told about how Wolf Fur, Viper Strike, and the others left the camp.
"I wish Rue was here. It gets lonely without her.." Thresh mewed.
"You have all of us to keep you in safe company!" Silver Leaf purred in his usual bright optimistic tone. The black tom faintly smiled at his friend. "Thanks." He mewed. The two toms looked at each other for a moment. "You don't think?" Pigeon Talon mewed to Fish Scar.
"I must be moon mad. This forest has had a lot of things happen to us." The mackerel tabby purred in amusement as Thresh and Silver Leaf went over to grab a piece of prey from the prey heap together.
