Matt Lagalia considered himself a simple man; nothing much happened in this dreary little town of which he lived in, and he pretty much got paid to look for stolen engagement rings and cheating husbands at this point, nothing too big. Or even decent-size, actually, but the man didn't think too much of it.

This grim city was practically crime-ridden, but nothing other than stolen purses and occasional assault victims were fussed about, or rather..fussed about in his field of work.

And, the man with brown hair and a slight stubble on his chin only assumed it couldn't really get any better, or any worse. He would only stick with his overly-expensive 1-room apartment, his tattered coat, and perpetually lonely life.

Or so he thought, until, his boss came into through the door.

"..gah, fuck." He muttered, having accidentally burned himself on his cigarette, not yet noticing the tall, slender man standing before.
"Lagalia, how the /hell/ do you manage to burn yourself on the thing you consume everyday?" Mr. Jason. A manager of his department hissed, slamming a manila folder onto the detective's desk. Before Matt could answer, the male just pinched the bridge of his nose, giving a grunt.

"Don't answer that. You've got a case, and this one's quite a fuckin' doozy. Murder on 8th street, Lenny Rue, death by a bullet to the head. You can check out the crime seen at 8. They got marked by the mafia, so you better make it quick." He snapped, starting to make his way out the door.
Matt quickly stood up and plucked the folder off of his desk, squinting.

"Wait, if the person got branded, why are you sending me over to this case?" He questioned, raising a brow.

"Just check the damn folder." Mr. Jason snapped, and walked out.
With a frustrated huff, Matt looked through the folder.

Lenny Rue
Age: 24
Gender: Female.
Shot in the head, branded by mafia.

Lenny Rue was a blind kid that lived in the streets. Quiet, reserved. Kept to herself. The only reason he knew this was because he occasionally had chats with the kid, and she tended to get into cases..and defend the ones who got caught as guilty. A prime example would be Nick Fratelli, someone who burned down his own shop. So, this tended to cause some issues, but he felt bad for the kid. Probably got herself into a bad situation she didn't intend to.

He pressed his cigarette into the ashtray, giving a sigh, noticing the note written in red pen.

MEET PARTNER AT CRIME SCENE, DO NOT BE LATE.

..Fuck.
