Can't Forget Her

It was almost three years,
Yet I couldn't get over
Eyes shun with tears,
As I tried to forget her

The warmth she emitted,
From mere steps away
The thoughts initiated,
When she said "Hi" or "Good Day"

I was still a human,
Entitled to dreams
Growing with the hopes,
Of children and getting married

But then one day,
My dreams were all on the ground
When Ms.Perfect attendance,
Was nowhere to be found

I stared at the empty seat,
For a few more days
No phone call, no message,
Neither letters nor email

Then one day,
My phone vibrated in class
I took it out and answered,
Before the first ring even passed

"Where the hell are you!? "
All eyes on me
"Something came up"
"We moved to New Jersey"

I grabbed my jacket,
Off the back of my seat
Ran out of class,
Almost bare feet

"Bring her back for us!"
Was all I heard
As I raced off the compound,
Onto the road

My shoes slippery,
Upon the ice
As I ran to stop it,
The first bus in sight

I got home,
got better clothes
Stole Dad's car keys,
Back onto the road

The steering was heavy,
As I was weak with fear
The one who I lived for,
Was leaving me here

And just like that,
My flashback was interrupted
By a comforting hug,
And a kiss that contrasted

Then my last thought,
Before smiling
Was that I went all that way,
For nothing
