Amanda looked up at me as if slightly embarrassed. I gave her a reassuring smile as to tell her that everything is okay or that it is going to be okay. She pulled away from me and said "Todd why don't we go out tonight? I have been cooped up in here for too long." She wanted to go out? I was surprised since everything that happened with her boyfriend she barely saw anyone and now she wanted to go out? Even though I was surprised I was glad she was thinking about other things besides him. "Sure, we just have to let Jaime know."
Jaime was more than happy to let us go out. Like me she too was surprised but happy that Amanda was taking an initiative. So I went back home and took a shower. When I came out mother asked me why I didnt come home last night. With Dad things were easy. He understood that I was the only friend Amanda has right now but Mom just thought she is my girlfriend and that spending way too much time with her can hamper my reputation more like her reputation. But I didnt care I never really did. So I told her that I will be out late tonight as well and she gave me a stern look but said nothing.
By seven I was all dressed up in my button-up shirt and jeans. I went over to Amanda's to be greeted by Jaime. "She is in her room waiting for you," she said with a smile. I don't know why but I was very excited. Even though we were just friends it was always a special feeling to be around her.
I walked into her room to find her wearing an embellished blue dress. Her curls framing her face beautifully. I just stared at her. She turned around from her floor length mirror to look at me. She gave me a shy smile and asked, "How do I look?" "U look beautiful," I said and watched as her cheeks grew pink. It was an odd feeling but a good feeling. "Thanks." With that she grabbed my hand and led me out of the house.
