Song: I Saw You Close Your Eyes by Local Natives
Chapter 1:
don't let your guard down"Whatever. Just don't overdo it again." He sighed through the phone, his voice unenthusiastic.
Loudly revving the engine of the 1966 Shelby Cobra, Lana rolled her eyes. "Eric. Shut up!" She yelled into the blue tooth device. "Live a little!"
Her long brown hair whipped around in the wind; tugging at her scalp almost painfully as she laughed aloud and shook her head playfully. Her thin fingers bounced in the wind as she held her free hand like an airplane in the strong wind. With her foot almost touching the accelerator to the floor, she sped through the vacant streets—the lights blurring past her in long infinite streaks.
The classic bright red sports car blazed through the dark night atmosphere, the tires squealing with each turn as Lana screamed happily with the freedom of her youth.
"You're going to kill yourself...or worse." Eric mumbled distractedly.
Lana's lips quirked up further into a mischievous grin as she zoomed down the long never-ending road, "Are you jealous?" She snorted, slamming to a stop before reversing at a dangerous speed.
Her heart thumped in her chest, the thrill buzzing through her bloodstream until she shook with excitement.
"Yes." Eric purred lowly. His voice so silky smooth, it brought shivers to Lana's bare back.
There was something about having her life threatened by her best friend that brought her to the edge of euphoria. The dark thoughts of his hands being the things that took her last gasp of breath gave her the kind of pain that was terribly addicting. She wouldn't stop it even if she could.
Readjusting the gears once more, Lana spun the voluptuously curvy car around in a smooth half circle, the rubber burning under her, "Then come kill me, baby!" She laughed in a high just as she saw the flashing red and blue lights coming closer in the review mirror. "Shit."
Eric chuckled at her sudden hiss, "Busted, babe?" He guessed with an unsympathetic hum, "Call me when you're out." He dismissed her, no longer interested in talking to her.
"Fuck you too." Lana spat, hanging up on the dead dial tone as she slowed the car down and pulled over for the officer.

Well, thought Lana as her cheek rested uncomfortably on the hood of her car, this was a rather unfortunate situation.
"...You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can and will be held against you in a court of law..." the officer's voice droned out in a memorized Miranda Rights droll as he slapped the cuffs on her wrist.
Trying to blow her messy, unruly hair out of her face, Lana struggled uncomfortably with the need to itch her terribly itchy knee.
"You know..." Lana started, pausing to blow at the strand of stubborn hair again, "You're going to regret this. I don't think you know who you're dealing with—you're new to the police force, right?" She guessed—she had never been arrested by him before.
Lana was rather familiar with the officers. She even had nicknames for them all.
"Ma'am, please don't resist." The man holding her down said.
