Jordan's POV.
‘Tori!’ I grinned at Tori, waving my arms at her as if she was blind, hoping she acknowledged my existence ‘I missed you so much sis!’
‘Ciao principessa. It hasn’t been that long! But hey, I still missed you lots too bebé.’ Victoria laughed. She lived in Italy for one year. She tends to switch languages sometimes. It makes her sound even more elegant.
“Hey bebé, where’s my hug?” she asked gently, grinning recklessly, her were arms wide open - invitingly. She hugged me so firmly, like she never wanted to let go. I never wanted to let go. Her sun kissed arms was wrapped around me. I sunk into her like she was a bed made of pillows. She hadn’t had on her usual perfume which smelt of Fresh Jasmine flowers, that smell is enchanting, it always seemed to take me to a beautiful daydream.
Her face was perfect because she was beautiful without any makeup; she had natural beauty, no spots, due to the fact that she’s never worn makeup in her life, not even lipstick. Her long flaunting golden curly hair that almost seemed tangled cascaded over her shoulders. Her powerful green eyes glistened as it gracefully wandering into my eyes. Her huge red lips was shaping to a smile unearthing her perfectly white teeth, almost teasing my awful teeth, she then let go. I never knew one hug could be so perfect.Victoria moved in this slow careless way, deliberately seeking all the attention in the room. She looked like an angel with her long white skirt flowing loosely on her waist.
Dad stared at her in awe, wondering how she turned out this beautiful.
Dad is always boasting about her, about how beautiful and smart she is. It’s clear he’s wishing I was like her, but I turned out… A spotty girl with wavy ginger hair, that’s me – Jordan, what a boring name, it suited me perfectly. I laughed dryly in my mind.
‘It’s bedtime Jordie!’ Mum announced. I scowled over at the clock, it showed 9pm. Bedtime? My mum was clearly trying to get rid of me. She was undeniably up to something.
‘But mum, Victoria just came, I want to talk to her, it’s been ages!’ I moaned.
‘Jordan, you know perfectly well that you can talk to her tomorrow.’ Mum enlightened, as if I didn’t know that.
‘But, but I’ve got school and then I have to do my homework and-‘
‘BED!’ Mum screamed, her pitch blasting my eardrums out. She scowled pointing to the door.
I got the message and I reluctantly nodded. There’s no arguing with mum, when she’s won, she’s won. I slowly made my way up the stairs and then pretended to stomp up the stairs, but actually stayed downstairs. Some people would say I’m eavesdropping but in my opinion it takes a lot of skill to be sneaky like me. Hehe. Anyway it’s not my fault mum is trying to get rid of me, luckily I’m just one step ahead. I positioned my ears on the wall, not able to see a thing, only able to hear them.
There was silence for a few seconds, probably waiting for the “sector to be clear”. Not quite mum, not quite.
‘So why are you really here?’
‘Cause I love you guys, and I wanted to see you!’ Tori’s voice was serious, but it was obvious that was a lie. She left us at age sixteen... she’s nineteen. Nineteen! She didn’t visit us once. Not once, she didn’t even ring us. I kind of understand why, there was just too much bitterness, too much tension between her and mum at the time.
‘Not buying it?’ She continued some time after.
There was a long pause, followed by a muffled sigh.
‘I got a...a note.’ Tori stammered, her voice merely able to utter the words out.
Silence. The silence was scaring me; it went on for 3 minutes. There was no sound whatsoever, I wasn’t even sure that I could even hear them breathing. Then unexpectedly, my heart raced as I heard a terrifying loud scream. Damn! My ears!
