(Y/n)'s POV
The rain gently glided down in front of the windows, and you breathed in the smell of summer rain. You were to where you weren't as sore with moving on the mattress, something Levi would protest every time you even attempted to. But Levi also was improving slowly. Petra was extra cautious with both of you.
Much to Levi's and your annoyance. Jean tried to keep both of you from losing your minds in bedrest by offering to play cards. Levi almost had an aneurysm from being told he had to stay in bed. His hardworking nature and need-to-protect instinct were not having it.
Petra didn't dare take Jean to find other people and leave you two alone and vice versa. Levi and you were easily taken down if anything happened and your caregivers couldn't allow that. But as you sat in this bed you felt selfish knowing your friends could be in grave danger or... even worse.
"Go fish." Petra interrupted your thoughts by prodding Levi to grab from the depleting pile of cards. Jean was smirking as he had a great many numbers of matches and he was going to win this game. As he had with the other seven.
"I'm so fucking tired of this stupid card game," Levi said, putting his cards down. You agreed by nodding and making a match of spades.
"Mad because you're losing?" Jean said nonchalantly counting his pairs of cards and Levi looked bored in his direction.
"Lucky I can't hit you from here idiot," Levi grumbled, Petra and you laughed softly, the ginger shook her head. She started stretching and got up, Jean followed suit.
"I'm gonna go see if we have enough cans for dinner." Jean shuffled along with the odd display of the two full mattresses placed adjacent to each other. The mattresses were placed against the counter for the register so it would be easy for you two to slowly sit up.
Jean made his way to the shelf the supplies that had been gathered lay. The first aid kit, a bottled amount of pain relief pills, about five cans of corn, a couple of soup cans, and the backpack Levi took.
"You feel like corn again tonight?" Jean has a joking tone with his voice as if you all have a choice. You scoff and try your best to situate yourself without making your body scream from the sudden movement.
"Funny Jean..." Petra rolls her eyes and walks over to him. She however sighs as she glances around the supplies.
"You two need to go searching again soon," You answer her thoughts for her out loud. Petra nods. But there's a dilemma plaguing all four of you. These were the supplies you found in this region. The group would have to travel farther.
Jean and Petra were safer together, but that left Levi and you unprotected. And easily overwhelmed if any creatures or bandits strolled along.
"Goddamn it, this is all my fault." You sigh, shaking your head. "If I hadn't driven into the city... if I had just stayed hidden..." You groan.
"It's too late to think like that now (Y/n)," Levi states. You feel angry at him and yourself right now. Mostly angry at him because his statement is right, and angry at yourself because you're the reason the situation has gotten this bad.
"We're in a window of time where the creatures aren't the main threat right now. But bandits could still be roaming. We killed enough of their friends they won't be fucking happy." Petra says, absentmindedly moving the soup can of chicken noodle soup around.
