Promises (A Clato Fanfic)

Chapter 6: The Capitol

Clove POV:

We all sit down for dinner. Shirley sits at the head of the table, Enobaria on her left and me on Shirley's right. Brutus beside Enobaria and Cato beside me.

"Shall we discuss sponsorships?" Enobaria asks. We all nod and she continues. "Great. Now you need to look mean and brutal, but you also need to show you love each other. Any questions so far?" We all nod and she continues. "We will be arriving at the Capitol tomorrow morning at 9. Be up at 6 and be here for breakfast at 7:15. Now y'all go to bed. You're gonna need some rest." She sends us off to bed.

We start walking to my bedroom. Cato sleeps in my room. "Are you excited to go to the Capitol?" Cato asks me.

"No not really. One step closer to the games. I wish we could stay here forever. It's just me and you."

"Clove if we both get out of that arena, will you promise me something?"

"I'm not very good at keeping promises." Cato starts to laugh.

"Promise me if we both get out of that arena together, will you marry me?" I'm really shocked.

"Cato, I don't know. I'm only 15 and there's no way we're both getting out."

"Just promise me. We can wait. I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. I love you Clove."

"Ok, we'll get married if we both make it out. I promise and I will not break this one." He kisses me and we go to bed.

When I wake up, I realize that Cato's not here. Then i hear the shower running. He must've gotten up earlier. I look at the clock and it says 6:15 . I overslept. Oh well, it doesn't take me that long to get ready. I get out of bed and pick out my clothes. I grab a hair brush and start brushing my hair. When I'm done brushing my hair, Cato comes out of the bathroom in a towel wrapped around his waist. He looks so sexy. "Like what you see?" Cato jokes.

"Oh yeah, very hot." I joke back. "Go put on some clothes." I walk into the bathroom and get a shower. By the time I'm done getting ready, it's 7 so me and Cato decide to get there early. Brutus is already there eating and watching tv. "Good morning Brutus." I say. He grunts in reply. Someone must not be a morning person. Cato and I get a breakfast of bacon and cheese eggs. When we sit down Enobaria and Shirley come in. We all eat breakfast and finish by 8. We still have 1 hour until the Capitol. I go back to my room and Cato follows. We both lay on the bed and I put my hand on his chest and my head on his shoulder. "Do you ever wonder what the world would be like without the Hunger Games?" I ask Cato.

"No. But if I had to take a guess it would pretty boring." Cato replies. We sit there in a comfortable silence until we're at the Capitol. When we arrive Enobaria tells us to look mean but act like we're in love.

When we arrive at the station. the first thing you see is people dressed worse than Shirley. Me and Cato wave and he kisses me on the cheek. The crowd goes wild.
