Song: Treehouse ~ Conan Gray

Chris pov

Its been awhile since Gordie and I hung out in the treehouse. We've been so busy with school. It's  Gordie's 16th birthday tomorrow.  So it's getting harder to fit in our hideout.

.

It's after school on a monday when Gordie reminded me of something.

"Chris, remember those days with Teddy and Vern?" Gordie said smiling.

"Yes of course, I don't think I'll ever forget." I chuckled

"Hey." I said "Have you ever got your yankees cap back from Eyeball?"

"Holy crap, I forgot about my yankees cap." Gordie said shocked. "We gotta get it back!!"

"Relax Gordo." I said calmly. "We'll get it back, I promise."

Gordie sat back down on his bed

"Hey what are we gonna do for your birthday?" I said trying to change the subject.

"Well,  I don't know." Gordie shrugged.

"You know what how about we go back to the treehouse." I said excitedly.

"Yeah, sure." Gordo said as put his hand through his brown hair.

Adorable.

"Um. Is like 8pm a good time?." Gordie questioned.

"Yeah ok." I smiled.

"You better not be late Chris." Gordie said seriously

"Promise."

Today is Gordie's 16th birthday. And I wanted to find his yankees cap.

I was searching for his cap for ages and i found nothing. What am I gonna do? God, I don't wanna let Gordie down. I need to find it. That's when I remembered Eyeball was the one who stole it away.

Crap. Eyeball's sleeping in his room. Screw it. I thought.

So i carefully tipped toe up to his room. Before I opened the door, I took a big but quiet deep breath. I opened it very softly trying not to wake that jerk.

Now, in his room. His bed on the right and his shelves right beside it. I quickly scanned this room and found the cap immediately.

It was laying on the top shelf next to his collection of who knows what.

I snatched it in seconds and went for the door until.

"Chris?! What is that in your hands." My brother said angrily.

I ran out of his room and out the door, saying nothing.

Kept running. I had no idea where I was running to. I looked back. He stopped running and he became much smaller and smaller as I continued to run.

I finally found a small market near the blue point diner.  I still had change from that day of the fair with Gordie.
So i bought a crappy tablecloth, cheap candle lights, and two coke bottles.

"Oh how nice. Are you having a date soon?" Said the cashier in a really fake happy tone

"Yes, it's actually tonight." I said in the same tone

"How cute. So who's the lucky girl." She said as i gave her the money.

"Umm. Yeah sure. Girl." I said awkwardly

As I took my things, I looked at the clock.

7:50! Damn it!

I promised him I won't be late.

I then ran out the door and kept running.

Thank god, the treehouse is only like 2 minutes away, only if I run quick enough.

Finally reached our treehouse. Climbed inside as quick as possible. My heavy breathes are filling up the room as I put the tablecloth on an upside crate I found. Then lighting the candles with matches from my pockets and put them on the make-shift table. I finally placed the coke bottles down.

I took the cap out of my back pocket and placed it behind my back.

As soon as I took a deep breath, Gordie came in.

"Woah! what happened here?!" He wide-eyed smiled.

"I call it a picnic in the treehouse. Sounds stupid, I know." I chuckled.

"No, I like it." He said as he sat down across from me

"Oh... and Happy Birthday Gordo!!!!!" I said as I took out the object behind me.

"Chris, my yankees cap! You got it back!" He said as he hugged me tight. He was so warm.

"I found it in Eyeball's room just laying on his shelf." I said.

"Was he angry? That you took it, was he angry?" He said curiously.

"Umm no." I lied. I knew that he would be worried if I told him. I never want my best friend to be worried or scared on his birthday.

"Oh ok." He said with uncertainty
.
.
.
I opened the coke bottles and handed him one.

I was staring at Gordie  while he looked at his hat. Gordo was staring at it for a long time. I could tell that he was in a gloomy state.

"Uhh Chris." He said shakily

"Yeah?" I said very concerned

"I.. You're..." he started tearing up. " You're the only person in my life I truly love."

He started to cry harder.

" I just don't want to lose you too." He broke down.

I fucking hate seeing him cry.  My vision blurred and tears started running down my cheek. I rubbed it away and spoke up.

"Shhh. Hey, hey." I said trying to calm Gordie down

"It's your 16th birthday right now. Right now. Let's not think about anything else, but this moment." I said softly.

" I'm with the one I love, you. I'm not gonna leave you now. " I said with louder tone with tears running down my face. "Please let's not think of what's going to happen in years, months, heck even tomorrow I don't want to think about. I just wanna be with you....now. All I want right now is you." I said breathing heavily.

I didn't realize that I had stood up. But then Gordie stood up and then walked up to me. He took my hands  and leaned in. He kissed me softly.

"I want to be with you too." He whispered in my ear.

He kissed me again. And I kissed him back, this time passionately. I felt him smile.
.
.
We sat back down after a few minutes.

I put the cap on Gordie's head. Surprisingly, it still fit him. He looked like 12 year old Gordie again. Shit, we've grown up.

But, it was great to be back at the treehouse.
