I wrote this story while listening to this song.
Song: Lovesick Boys- Conan Gray

Gordie sat in their treehouse. Sweating from the summer heat. Chris told him to meet in the treehouse after lunch. Gordie waited and waited. About 45 minutes Chris finally arrived.

"So what are we gonna do today." Gordie said curiously.

" I was thinking we can just walk wherever. We can go to the diner, or the bookstore. Anywhere " Chris said

And so they went wandering around the town. They were looking for something new to do.

Gordie saw bright lights coming from the end of street. He heard kids screaming or maybe it was laughing. Gordie realized what it was and his face lit up.

"Chris, let's go to the fair!" Gordie said with excitment, as he pointed straight ahead.

Every July in castle Rock, the county fair opens up. Gordie used to go with his brother Denny all the time in the summer. He truly missed those days.

"Uh, sure." Chris said. Gordie didn't rely. He was distracted by the big ferris wheel.

" Come on Chris!" Gordie said with his dazzling smile. Chris adored Gordie's smile.

They were now inside surrounding by the sound of laughter and the smell of fair food. Gordie had no idea where to start. The ferris wheel? The carousel?Or that huge roller coaster in front of them. But they only had enough change for two rides and maybe some snacks.

" Chris, the roller coaster! C'mon!" Gordie said as he swiftly grabbed chris' arm. Gordie was pulling chris to the long line for the roller coaster. There they stood, waiting.

Chris felt thousands pair of eyes staring at him. He was aware of the pointing and the loud whispers. Chris tried to ignore it. But after each word he heard, he gradually felt low.

"Its Chris, that chambers kid." Some stranger said.

"Ugh, why is Chris Chambers here?" Some girl whispered loudly in utter disgust

Gordie could tell immediately that Chris is hurt.

"Chris, nevermind them, the line's moving." Gordie whispered as he put his arm around Chris.

After waiting for what felt like forever, they were finally in a seat. But Chris still hadn't said a word. Chris looked nervous.

"What's wrong?" Gordie said as he buckled himself in his seat " You've been really quiet."

"Well its just i haven't been on a roller coaster before." Chris said somewhat embarrassed.

" Really?! Like never in your life. You've never experienced the thrill of a roller coaster!" Gordie said.

Chris shook his head "I've never been on one."

"It'll be great, I promise." Gordie smiled

After about a minute, when everyone was buckled in.

"Gordie!" Chris yelled as the ride started to move.

"Its okay." Gordie said. "Breathe." He said as he chuckled. Chris looking worried seemed so funny to Gordie. He found it adorable.

The ride went up and up, and so did both boys' adrenaline. Before the drop, Chris and Gordie turned to each other and started to smile.

"Here we go!" Gordie yelled.

The only thing Gordie heard throughout was Chris' screaming and yelling.

When the ride was over, both boys were a bit dizzy. But they wanted to do it again.

"Holy shit, that was amazing!" Chris said a huge grin on his face.

"See! I told you it would be great!" Gordie said with a smile as well.

"Where to next Gordo?" Chris said as they both wandered around the fair.

"Since it's our last ride, let's go on the ferris wheel." Gordie said.

"Sure! Let's go!" Chris said enthusiastically.

Before Gordie could say anything Chris pulled his arm, eager to go on the ferris wheel.

Fortunately, they didn't have to wait long in the line. The two boys were pretty excited. They were both laughing and smiling in the line. It was that kind of laughing that makes your stomach hurt and make you tear up. The best kind of laughing.

Chris and Gordie were now in the seat together, ready to go.

When they finally arrived at the top, that's when everything got quiet.

The view was amazing. Perfect even.

"Wow." That was the only thing Chris could spit out

Gordie was now holding Chris' hand. Causing Chris to smile. Gordie's hands were so soft and warm. Chris then intertwined his fingers with Gordie's. Both boys never wanted this to end. Whatever this was.

Chris felt something. He felt different. As though the feeling devoured him in amazment. All his problems suddenly disappeared. In that moment, nothing else matter, but him and Gordie on the Ferris wheel looking at the beautiful view.

Chris and Gordie turned to each other. Slowly, but carefully they leaned in closer and closer. Chris then closed pressing his lips against the brunette boy. Gordie remembered those rough, chapped lips.

Together, at the top, where the two could see the world, they felt safe. They felt as though they were free to stay in the moment and relax in each others warmth. Calm breaths and the comfort in each other's presence. They felt safe. And are safe. Just like they did in the treehouse.

the setting wasn't really exactly in the treehouse, but i thought this would be cute.
