This is a Mace fanfic. All events haven't happened. Something something.
SFW. Let me know what you think!
Enjoy!
Grace was in the car, driving the LA roads to get to Mamrie's. It was YDAD shooting day and they were both supes excited!
"YAAS! Can't wait to make you this drink Gracie! You will love it! :) xoxo." Read the text from Mamrie to Grace at 6.30am this morning. 'Jesus Christ.' Grace thought to herself. 'This must be some cocktail worth getting up at that time for!'
Grace pulled up onto the sidewalk outside Mamrie's place, hopped out of her car and hurriedly walked up the path and let herself in through the front door.
"OH. MY GOOOOD!" Grace stood in Mamrie's hallway, staring at the tall, green liquid filled bottle on the small wooden, now acclaimed, 'YDAD table'.
"Mames?" Grace shouted, now standing with the bottle in her hand.
"Oh, hey dude, how's it goin'?" Mamrie asked, with a slight smirk on her face from seeing that Grace had spotted the liquor.
"I thought we agreed never to drink Absinthe again after the last time?! That night got very weird, very quickly." Grace said in a slightly pissed, but blunt tone.
"Oh come on, Gracie! That was years ago when we first met doing improv. You must have gotten over that night by now!"
It didn't need to be said out loud what happened that night. Grace had known Mamrie for about two weeks before she knew that she like liked her. And Grace had to tell her before it got too late and what better timing than a drunken night out! Grace knew she had to say it when she was in a certain, inebriated state, she was far too awkward, mumbly and fidgety any other time. Emotions weren't exactly her strong suite. When Grace finally got to that 'better say it now, one more drink and you're too wasted' point of the night, she plonked herself down next to Mamrie and put her arm round her.
"Hey Mames... so I've not known you for long but, um..."
"Come on ya dummy spit it out!"
"I like you. Like, I like you, Mamrie."
"Awww, dude! I like you too! I can tell we're gonna be good friends for a long time!!"
Ouch.
Grace held her head a little low for while and didn't bring up how she felt about Mamrie. Mamrie knew she had touched a nerve with Grace with the way she was acting those following weeks. It was all talked out and Grace had said it was a drunken thing. Not a mistake. But a thing. But things were still weird for a bit, Mamrie knew Grace liked her more than a friend but she wasn't totally into it. But hey, it was a drunken thing.
"Well, lets just get this done then! My break from the online world is almost over and the last day of a holiday never needs to be remembered, right?"
"Yeh girl, lets do this!"

About an hour passed and the pair of them were pretty wasted! Mamrie had created a cocktail called "It's Grace Leave of Absinthe!" to celebrate Grace starting her brand new YouTube channel, Its Grace!
"Thank you for watching You Deserve a Drink! Again, Iiiii'm Mamrie Hart and remember! The best part about YDAD is the built-in drinking game! So make your delicious 'It's Grace Leave of Absinthe', re-watch this and drink everytime I make a teeeeeerible Grace Helbig pun!"
"Yeeeeeh that was great girls!" shouted a voice from behind the lights and camera.
"Yaaay thanks Hannah!" Mamrie ran up to Hannah and gave her a huge hug. Hannah had to rush off as she was doing some things for Cookbook 2014
"Seriously thanks for coming to shoot that for us, it was really good of you! I know you have schedule right now."
"Please are you kidding me!? That was the most fun I've had since no filter tour! Anyway I'm gonna get going. See you through the week!"
A joint, slurred goodbye came from deeper in the house as the girls waved Hannah out the door.
There was a weird, awkward silence between the two as one sat in the lounge, the other in the open plan kitchen. Grace was slumped back into the sofa, drink on the table and fumbling with her hands in her lap. Unknown to Mamrie, Grace was thinking about the 'drunken thing' night. All those years ago. How when Grace saw Mamrie rock up to the bar in that little black dress, she knew there was an attraction. An infatuation. Grace knew if she didn't tell Mamrie that night how she felt, it could have potentially been another relationship opportunity pissed away in the wind. That was sort of Grace's thing. When they spoke about it, Grace put it down to a drunken slur that just happened to spill out of her mouth and Mamrie just assumed that anyway. But what happened after that discussion, Mamrie knew this was more than a thing. They didn't speak for about 4 weeks. Grace stopped turning up to improv when she was supposed to be there with Mamrie. She didn't pick up her phone, reply to any texts or even answer her door. Grace had been friendzoned. And she was devastated. Every time Grace thought of that moment, a knot of all feelings just tied up her stomach and tears streamed down her face. 'Why am I getting so upset about this?' She often whispered to herself, wiping the tears from her hot, red cheeks.
'Because it's Mamrie' Grace said to herself in the mirror, shaking her head and looking into the sink, with a slight grin on her face. 'It's Mamrie.'
By the time Grace had sat on the sofa thinking about this, Mamrie had fixed up some tequila slammers in the kitchen.
"Hey, Gracie! Get over here!" Mames shouted over the counter top.
Grace rubbed her face and whispered to herself 'Because it's Mamrie', before getting up from the couch and heading to where Mames was standing, with two massive shots of silver tequila. Passing the shot to Grace, Mamrie had conducted a little line for them.
"To us! We've been at this YDAD, double act thing for a long time now and I just wanna say that you're awesome! You edit my videos, you get drunk with me and some of the best laughs I've ever had are when I'm with you. Be it drunk or sober! Cheers!"
Grace giggled into her shot as she placed it up to her mouth and took it in the face! Afterwards, Mamrie is rambling on about some good old times that her and Grace had together. All Grace can do is just stand there. Stand and gaze into Mamrie's amazing eyes. The stare cannot be broken. Mamrie is moving around the kitchen and Grace is standing awestruck. But the stare is never broken. Finally, the tall red head stands in one place long enough for Grace to grab the back of her head and pull Mamrie in so she can feel her soft lips. Mamrie resists at first, taking Grace's hands in hers.
"Uh Gracie, how drunk are you?"
"Please Mames, just, don't talk."
Grace leans in again, and this time Mamrie is reciprocating. Mamrie grabs the tall blonde by the hips and pulls her slightly closer. Grace has Mamrie's long, red hair between her fingers before pushing her back towards the closest counter top in the kitchen. Mamrie takes her hands and balances herself against the counter edge, pushing herself more into Grace's sweet, soft kiss. Grace is the first to pull away. Looking straight into the beautiful red heads eyes;
"I just needed to do that."
"Yeh Gracie, have something on your chest huh?"
"I just, ugh, I just never got over that night. You put me right in the friendzone. But it was my fault. I shouldn't have jumped into the deep end so quickly. I got myself hurt and I blamed it on you. And I'm sorry for that. But that kiss was something I needed to do so, I'll see myself out."
Grace walked towards the front door, while Mames still stood against the counter top, mouth wide open, in shock at how open and calm Grace was just there. Usually she can't get a word out of those dumb, kissable lips. As the blonde opened the door to leave, Mamrie ran up behind her, run her hand down Grace's arm and held her hand and pulled her close. Mamrie started to tear up and pulled Grace in for a hug. Grace nuzzled her face into Mamrie's neck, tears in her eyes. Mamrie stood back, holding both of the tall, but shorter girls hands, looked her straight in those big, beautiful brown eyes and said...
