School is the cruelest thing ever invented. Do not be fooled by my straight A's, if I don't get them my mom would kill me. Over death and working my butt off, I would rather give a bit more effort.
San Francisco mornings are a bit chilly, but I still walk. We are supposed to get a new teacher today. I bet it will take two days for me to get rid of her. How hard can it be?Some people are afraid of teachers. I think they're crazy. Teachers are absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Just gotta know their weakness. Nice teachers are especially easy to get rid of. They usually don't have what it takes to withstand my jokes and comments. So far the school year just started, so I've been waiting. Sadly, the teachers this year are nice and I have no reason to get rid of them. There was one teacher I did have the principle fire though. She's a cranky old lady. Thank good she's gone.
I walk into the school, not bothering to wipe off the mud and grass off the bottom of my shoes. The custodians can't seem to trace the crime back to the sweet little girl who gives them cookies every Friday. So far they blame the soccer club. They'll never find out. *Insert evil laugh*
Walking into the classroom, I feel as if something isn't quite right. The air was thick with something... something unnatural. It's like going to a petting zoo on an especially humid day in the summer. The smell alone is enough to suffocate you, and the air is stuffy and presses down on you like a ton of bricks. There is so much water vapor it is hard to even breathe. Then again, the air conditioning is broken so maybe it's that. Even so, where'd all this humidity come from?
"Hi," A cheerful voice called out to me. It was the new teacher. I smirk, I've been waiting for Miss. Kremer's replacement. I'm glad that old bat is out of the way. Maybe if I like her I'll keep her. She seems fun to bully.
Her hair is a midnight black and reaches down to her thighs. Blood red lips contrasted with her pale white skin. She's a pretty thing too. I also have to say, her makeup is on point."Are you here for first period?" She asked me. She seems too confident. Not nervous at all. What's even more annoying is that she is Asian. Everyone knows Asian teachers give you the most homework and are the most strict. She better not have an accent as well.
I nod my head yes and push past her to get into the classroom. I am not in the mood to deal with anything that lives, much less a teacher. Can't blame me, I got three hours of sleep last night. I didn't expect the website to be so hard to hack. Of course, what matters is that it worked and now the information about the congress had been switched with one direction.
The teacher seemed to want to call me back, but there was another student at the doorway already. No doubt she would give me a lecture on being respectful.
I watch as she greets the next student, scowl replaced with a well practiced smile. Stupid John Razcoph is next. First time he's meeting her and he's already like "I like your dress, it's really pretty." And, of course, she smiles. Just like that, he won her over. It's too easy man. I told you, teachers are easy to control. Just matters which side your on.
First period is even more boring than usual. She introduces herself with a forced smile. "I'm Miss White," she tells us. "I hope we can have fun this year without any disturbances. I do not tolerate disrespectful behavior from anyone." She stares at me at the last part. I roll my eyes. See? Annoying.
We literally made google slides the whole class so she can "get to know us." If she wants a easy year, she better do a lot to get in my good side. Never mind, she's already on my bad side.
The rest of the day went okay. I mean, it was as good as school gets.
She licked her lips when she saw me. More exactly, Andrew behind me. Something about her seemed off.
"I'm teacher Bai. Omg, are you Melody? I know your father! I can tell that we will be good friends. And are you Andrew? Your father and I were besties! Well, get to your seat children."
Okay... who the heck is she? I haven't seen my dad before... like ever. I live with Andrew's mom and the rest of the gang. She told us our parents were famous idiots. Now I believe that. who else but an idiot would befriend this lady?Despite what she had told us, there were no seats. There were cushions and the kids were all sitting on them. Instead of the usual posters of math concepts and writing tips, there were all kinds of weird things around the room. In fact, it resembled a cave. There were chains on the side of the room, and a cabinet was locked was full of knives. Don't ask me how I know. I just do.
"Am I the only one who thinks that something is wrong?" I asked, getting a very bad feeling from the setup of the cave.
"She's just different, that's all," Andrew replied. As expected from Mr. Goody-two - shoes that trusts everyone.
"Listen to Andrew," said Juliana. "It's cool here, and plus, I don't smell danger." There she goes again. Her nose is cool, and she does get us out of dangerous situations, but my eyes don't deceive me. This doesn't look right. My necklace felt warm. It didn't since we were attacked by a dragon demon. We almost died that night. I hope that it won't happen today.
The teacher walked in with a smile. "Is that everyone? Great. Let's get started."
She walked over to us. Her smile was big and really unsettling.
Her hair grew white and long, and she seemed to float. Her eyes grew big and wide, Turing a milky white. She was unsettlingly pretty. Her nails were sharp and long, and she melted into a demon. The demon. The one that we are taught to fear as a child, even though it is only a story."It's the bai gu jing, ( white bone demon) " someone whispered.
Alex stood up. "Take off your necklace Melody."
"Excuse me?" This isn't Alex. I don't believe it. This isn't Alex.
"Take it off," he told me harshly. "Please."
What? I am so confused. Who is this and what happened to my best friend?"Do what he tells you to," a voice whispered in my ear. It was Andrew. "Please, it's our only chance. The Buddha told me so." Have my friends all gone insane?
Julianna just sat there, looking as baffled as I. "Do it," she told me. "I don't wanna become dinner."
"Well well well, looks like your father taught you well Alex. Look at you standing up for your friends," Teacher Bai- no, the demon- said.
Sighing, I pulled off my jade necklace. It was now or never. It is a gift from my dad, and while I love him, I don't think it can do me any good.A golden light burst out of the jade peach, and a monkey hopped out.
"Finally!" He cheered.
