"every time I see your face, my heart takes off on a high-speed chase." -Lifehouse

the soft droplets

slash against the window pane.

the wind howls through the trees,

like the cry of a lone wolf.

I sit on my window seat,

shivering through the blanket covering me.

sleepiness seems to have run away,

as I let my thoughts wander,

along with the wind,

meandering through the branches.

they fly to you,

and a smile tugs at my lips.

my mind envisions your face,

and suddenly,

I'm not shivering anymore.

as I rest my chin in my hands,

my eyes drift out the window,

and the pellets of rain, along with

the taunting wind,

don't bother me anymore.

because I don't need to look for the sun

when you're here.
