Aniya's POV
Anger filled me but I knew better than to show any emotion. Von wasn't my nigga or boo for me to be flippin' out, although I want to. I calmly handed him his phone and reached for the door handle.
"Niya, it's not what you think. She sent that pic by herself. I ain't ask," he said. I just laughed and snatched my arm from his grasp. "I'm not your shorty so I don't care," I said getting out.
"So you not gonna give me your number?" He asked. I looked at him like he had lost his mind.
"You have more than a number in your phone. I'm not into getting hoes in trouble," I yelled behind me as I walked up the stairs to my house.
I was hurt though, we had a good day and I actually thought he really wanted something with me but there I go being stupid again.
"That's you sis?!" my sister yelled from her room.
I walked upstairs to her room and opened the door, "Yeah, it's me, wassup?" I said. "Nothing really, who's your little friend that dropped you off? He got a nice car," She said with a smirk on her face.
"Oh, him, that's my friend Von," I said.
"Mmhmmmm, till he all up in your pants," she said laughing. I ignored her because I clearly didn't catch the joke. "Where's mommy?" I asked.
"In her room," She said. I closed her door and walked down the hall to my mother's room just to find her with papers all around her as she had her glasses on. I walked closer and she lifted her head and smiled at me.
"Aniya baby, how's my baby doing?" She said taking off her glasses and motioning me to sit next to her. I I got closer and noticed the papers were bills from different companies. She had an electricity bill, mortgage bill, water bill, car insurance bill, and many others. I looked up at her and noticed her usual bright face seemed tired and she was growing gray hairs. My heart immediately sunk just remembering that she was going through everything and paying everything by herself working 2 jobs.
"You okay mama?" I asked
"I'm fine baby," She said.
"I'm scared for you mama. You going through all of this by yourself, nobody helping you, it's only a matter of time before you can't handle it anymore," I said on the verge of tears.
"Niya listen, you have one of the strongest women on this earth as your mother baby. God doesn't give his children anything he knows they can't handle. Yes, it is hard, but I got this baby. In due time, everything will be fine. I pray every night and morning for strength and guidance-not only for me, ut you guys as well. I know my God won't fail me. So I'll need you to keep your faith baby, we'll be fine," She had as she hugged me close to her chest kissing my forehead.
I had caught a headache and just wanted to sleep. "Alright ma, I'm going to sleep. I'll see you tomorrow," I told her getting down her bed. "Alright Niya, I love you, goodnight," she said. "Goodnight," I said as I kissed her head and walked out, closing the door behind me. I walked to my room and just laid down, thinking when will I be genuinely happy, until sleep had engulfed me.
I woke up feeling tired. I didn't feel like going to school but the semester was coming to an end so I had to stick it out. I got up and took care of my hygiene and stood in front of my closet trying to decide on what I wanted to wear. I decided to just throw on this light sweatsuit I had with the gray and orange yeezys my dad had gotten me. I got dressed and noticed Tyra had texted me saying her dad was driving us to school since she didn't live too far from me. I got ready and texted her, letting her know I was ready. I also ordered Edible Arrangements and a bouquet of flowers for my mother so I decided to call them as well before Tyra came to make sure it was coming on time, knowing my mother she was a busy body so she'll probably go out before they deliver it.
