WOULD YOU RATHER

The earth is full of different views
I choose to see in orange hues

Vermillion panes hide empty eyes
My chest hurts with each fall and rise

I wish my pain weren't painted
On my face for all to see

I wish my mind weren't tainted
With these thoughts of endless sleep

Exhaustion is trying to keep this up
Exhaustion is knowing it's not enough

Why are there not laws
Against sadness with no cause?

Weary hands grab fists of sand
My head is an orchestra, a band

I miss the quiet

The same songs play on repeat
As I circle on outskirts of defeat

I wish I could give up

But I see the world in warm colors
I see it different than others

And I'd rather see it through tears
Than not at all.
