The scales were a dark blue and a light purple. "Wow," She breathed. She wanted so badly to touch them, but she knew that if she touched the scales, the government would track her down. The dragon opened its eyes. "Come closer, child," It said in a deep rumbling voice. She walked closer to the dragon. "I'm afraid" She whispered. "You have nothing to be scared of," The dragon said. "Sit. And tell me everything" The dragon nodded towards the ground. She sat down, carefully. "Well, the government is after me. I didn't mean to, but when I was little my brother, and I went up to the volcano where the golden dragon laid. And well, I managed to push him. He got eaten by the dragon. And ever since the government has been tracking me." In the end, she let out a shaky breath. The dragon reached out its hand and touched her shoulder carefully. "What is your name?" The dragon asked carefully as if it was afraid it would break something. "Calliope, but my friends call me Calli" She looked up at the dragon and smiled a sad smile. The dragon opened its mouth like it was about to say something, but instead, a shiny tear rolled down its scaly cheek. Calli reached out her hand and wiped away the tear. "Why are you crying Mr Dragon?" She asked, genuine worry in her voice. "When I was a little dragon, my mother died. The government killed her; they said she was a threat to humankind. I ran away, and ever since I've been living here" The dragon said big salty tears running down its face. She wrapped her arms around the dragon's neck. "It's okay; it is going to be okay. We can do this; we can live here for all eternity," Calli said tears were forming in the corners of her eyes. The dragon mumbled 'yes' into her shoulder. She pulled away from the hug a broad smile on her face. They continued to live there Calliope and the dragon. They grew closer over time until eventually, the dragon trusted her enough to change into its human form.

I'm quite proud of this one. I might turn it into a full-length novel sometime. This one had 364 words. If you liked it please leave a comment or vote. I'll just stop writing that in my next ones. Next story will probably be up tomorrow or Tuesday.
