After my discussion with Bunny, I started to get everything ready. I grabbed a smaller knife for the act, since I'm pretty sure my home ec knife would just be that much easier to spot, and an apron. I learned from my mistake with Emma and had something that would stop her blood from drenching my uniform. You can only explain a bloody uniform once to your parents; after that they'll start suspecting something is up. Kanato would also smell this girl on me if I got her blood on my clothes, so better safe than sorry. I also grabbed the drug I would be using. Thank you drug addict uncle!
I grabbed everything I would need and put them into my school bag. I headed out after grabbing Bunny. She would be helpful insight to how I should cut her wrists. That and the perfect talking companion. She was smart, funny, and very reliable. I now understood the need for Teddy, and I wondered why more people didn't get a talking companion. It was very therapeutic.
"Are you ready for today Bunny?" I asked the black rabbit as we walked to school.
Of course I'm ready! This bitch needs to die! She was trying to steal your Kanato from you! No one can do that, and if they try, you eliminate them.
"Yeah, you're right. She has it coming...but what if Kanato finds out? He was awfully mad the last time I killed someone...and he only knew of the one." I said, my fears coming up on me. Kanato would definitely hate me if he found out about that stupid teacher. And now I'm just adding to the list of victims...
You know what? So what if he does find out! He knew how you felt when he got close to other girls! He's playing you, thinking you won't act because he 'doesn't like it.' But how many times has he almost killed you just because he was in a bad mood and wouldn't listen to your pleas?
"...quite a few times..." I admitted with a defeated look. "He never seemed to care about my well-being, even though I care immensely about his..."
My case in point! Let him suffer a bit with that stupid bear of his. If he thinks he can play with your heart like this, he has another thing coming.
I smiled in agreement, hugging Bunny tight. She was definitely a good buy. She knew exactly what to say to make sure I didn't lose my resolve. I mean, just think about having that conversation with just me. That would make me crazy, don't ya think? And I'm perfectly sane, save for my obsession with Kanato, but everyone obsessed over the person they liked, so it wasn't even that bad!
As we arrived at school, I saw Kanato with that girl again. He had his beautiful craze smile and she looked absolutely terrified. But oh, she didn't know true fear. She'd know it when she came to her senses, blood running down her wrists as her time was up. A suicide here on school would be a nice edition for the murdered girl, don't you think?
I walked past the two of them, keeping as calm as I could. I couldn't do anything with him around. That would only make it unnecessarily difficult. I could wait, I'm patient. I headed inside and took off my outdoor shoes as Amanda came over to me. She actually looked happy, so I'm guessing the interview made up her mind.
"Good morning Amanda!" I greeted cheerfully as I got my indoor shoes on. "I take it the interview went well?"
"Exceedingly so! Hiyuki tried to fool me, but I can detect lies from a mile away! She was nowhere near as heartbroken as she claimed to be, and she even told a few lies to cover up her true thoughts. She's the perfect suspect, but..." she trailed off, thinking before she noticed Bunny. "Is that the stuffed rabbit you got? How cute!"
"Isn't she?" I asked, beaming. "She's more helpful than what I would have guessed her to be. Its like having a friend that never judges or interrupts! I can complain about all my problems with ease, knowing they won't spread throughout the school." I hugged Bunny tight, my smile widening.
Ah, I didn't realize you cared so much for me! I feel flattered!
Amanda laughed as she looked at me with amusement. "I can understand that. I have a doll at home I tell everything to." I laughed along with her until the bell rang. "Well, we have to get to class. Tell me if you hear anything else?"
"Of course!" I waved goodbye as she rushed off. I leaned against the lockers with a goofy smile. Was this what having a friend was like? It felt nice.
What am I, chopped liver? Bunny asked, sounding furious. I don't trust that reporter girl. The way she acts so friendly is unnerving. No reporter is that friendly unless they have an ulterior motive.
"What? But what motive could she have? She believes and trusts us...me...We're getting along..."
Is that what you really think? Then you are more idiotic than I gave you credit for. She doesn't suspect Hiyuki, she suspects you. Ever heard of befriending your enemy? That's what she's doing with you.
"You...you don't know that..."
I don't know that? Oh carrot cake, I'm sure I do. You're just blinded by the fact that someone took and interest in you. You aren't thinking clearly. You just need time to think it over, which you can do while you watch that other bitch bleed.
I sighed before nodding. "That's true. And watching her fluids drain out of her along with her life would be a perfect way to calm myself. What would I do without you Bunny?"
Continue to be a gullible, idiotic mess of a girl. But that will change since I'm here.
I nodded in agreement as I gave Bunny another hug. I looked up to see Kanato and the girl heading inside. What have they been doing this whole time? I snuck behind the lockers and watched, listening to my prince's perfect voice.
"You know, Teddy likes how you taste, so you should feel honored." He stated as he headed for his shoe locker. The girl was following a little further behind him, the bite marks obvious. I gripped the side of the lockers tight, anger bubbling up inside me. He openly admits it, uncaring of who hears!
The girl had flinched as her hand flew to her neck. "K-kanato-sama...I don't think we should be d-doing this...I...I hate how it feels." She stammered, and my eyes slanted in daggers. She was arguing with him? Even after he had blessed her with the gift of his bite?
Kanato didn't seem to like this either as he turned to face her in a rage. "You're complaining now? Teddy and I personally make your miserable life better and you want out? You ungrateful-" the bell rang, cutting him off. Kanato just clicked his tongue and stormed off, Teddy in hand.
The girl stood there, looking hurt and scared. I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get rid of her. It didn't seem like she was taking Kanato's affections very well. I approached her with a caring and worried smile. "Is everything alright?" I asked, playing the fool. "You look so pale."
She flinched again and stared at me with wide, horrified eyes. On closer expection, her eyes were a darker brown than I would have guessed. She was beautiful...but not for long. "Oh...um...yes, I'm...alright..." she muttered, stumbling over her words. She definitely wasn't fine.
"Oh, well...alright. But, here," I pulled out the drink with the drug in it, handing it to her. "It's a special tea I make to help calm myself when school pressure gets to me. It should help you too."
The girl took it with surprising eagerness and swallowed what sounded like half of the bottle without question. I didn't know how long it would be until the drug took effect, just the time range between one and five minutes. I had to make sure we stayed close until it kicked in. "Thank you. I have been feeling nothing but stress since last week so this is appreciated more than you know."
"Would you like to talk about it? Talking usually helps those who are involved with stressful situations."
"No...that would get me in trouble."
"Hm..." I knew that was true. When Kanato was in one of his moods, he would snap at almost anything. But... "What about Bunny?" I asked, holding Bunny out for her to see. "She isn't a person, and no one will be the wiser! She's a good thing to vent to."
"But...she's yours." The girl said, seeming hesitant, but also willing to confide in Bunny.
"Just return her when you're done. I promise it's really satisfying to get everything off of your chest."
She hesitated another minute before gingerly taking Bunny into her arms. She looked at the stuffed animal with almost comical relief. She bowed slightly before walking away, looking around as she did so. She must be looking for somewhere no one would disturb her. "Try going behind the stairs! No one goes back there!" I called and she nodded, running toward the nearest staircase.
I waited another minute before following, sitting on the stairs and listening to her heartfelt worries. It was so sweet it was sickening. I was almost tired of waiting when she fell silent in the middle of her sentence and I had to stop myself from jumping over the railing. There she was, dazed and listless, Bunny to her side. I could only smile as I got a pen and paper out of my bag.
"Here, write a suicide note for yourself." I commanded, and she happily took what I offered and wrote. She wrote down her feelings and her dealings with Kanato, which I made her stop. She was not blaming him for her uselessness. As soon as she finished, she set the note and pen aside and went back to staring at the wall. "Good, now cut your wrists open." I ordered, handing her the knife. It was a cheap dollar knife, which anyone could get their hands on. Nothing suspicious there. "Nice and deep." I added before she made the first cut.
I grabbed Bunny and stood away from her as the blood began to spray. It soon died down to a steady flow as she cut open the next wrist, the effect following. It was beautiful, watching her life come to an end without having to lift a finger. I chuckled as I watched, just before her life faded from this world, came back to her senses. All she could was stare at me with horror as I chuckled. Soon, the life faded from her eyes and I stood, watching her lifeless body slump in on itself.
I stared for a solid five minutes before walking into the hallway...where I saw Amanda, wide eyed and knowing. "(F/N)...what did you do?" She asked, her voice shaking...shit.
"Whatever do you mean Amanda-chan?" I asked sweetly, walking over to her. "I only wanted to help a fellow classmate with what she needed. She needed release, and I happily gave it to her. She was so happy!" I exclaimed with a chuckle. "It was all Bunny's idea too! Isn't she so smart?" I asked, looking down at the beautiful animal in my arms.
"You-you killed someone!" Amanda shouted, and I flinched. She didn't need to yell...and I thought she would be happy about another story...
I told you she wasn't your friend. Bunny said with a scoff. And she was right, Amanda wasn't being very supportive. That's not how friends should act.
"I didn't do anything Amanda-chan. It was all her doing. She cut herself. She even left a note. I was just a innocent, horrified bystander." I said with a shocked, grieving face. It didn't last long as another smile took form. "She just couldn't handle receiving Kanato's affection."
Amanda looked on at me, fear masking all her features. It looked like she was about to scream, and I knew I wouldn't make it in time to stop her. That didn't stop me from trying though, so I raced toward her with an arm outstretched. Her mouth was wide open and a small noise came out when a pale hand covered it. I looked at who the hand belonged to and my heart jumped with both love and fear.
Kanato stood behind Amanda with a wickedly amused expression stretched across his face. Amanda looked behind her with confusion and then back came fear. Teddy had somehow ended up in my arms, right alongside Bunny, the three of us watching this beautiful man stay still.
I was the first to break the silence, my voice weak yet happy. He was here after all! "Kanato...what are you doing here?" I asked, looking at him before at the ground. I just couldn't stand it if he was angry.
"Nothing you need to be surprised about." He said, his voice laced with insanity. "Just watching over you as you slowly slip into madness." He added as he leaned toward Amanda's ear, whispering something that made her pale. He then let her go and she took off down the hallway, never looking back at us.
Kanato, after watching her go, looked at me. I swallowed back the lump forming in my throat as he walked closer, the insanity still clear on his face. "Kanato...what did you mean watching me...slip into madness?" I asked, looking straight into his chest as he stopped in front of me.
"You are my new plaything, just as Teddy is my friend." He answered, retrieving Teddy from my arms. "And I like breaking my toys." He added, blowing into my ear. I felt my face heat up as I looked up at him, and saw only happiness in his beautiful purple eyes. "Who's that?" He asked, pointing to Bunny.
"Oh! I thought it would be nice for Teddy to have a victim like you have me, so I got her. Her name is Bunny." I said with a smile. "She's the one who thought about making her death look like a suicide." I added, hugging Bunny.
Kanato seemed pleased with my answer. He didn't say anything else, just grabbed my wrist and pulled me along to behind the stairwell, where the body laid. Before I could ask questions, he bit into my neck, taking my blood as his. I smiled as I wrapped my arms around him in a hug, holding onto him as he drank his fill. We stayed like that until he was happy, but before he pulled away, he whispered something into my ear that made my heart race.
"Fall further, and become my doll."
"Yes Kanato-kun. I'll be your doll."(Amanda's P.O.V.)
I was completely breathless by the time I stopped running. I was at the opposite side of the school building, and I still didn't feel safe. Kanato's words echoing through my head like a never ending nightmare. His breath was cold and his presence like death itself. A chill ran down my spine as I remembered what he said.
I confronted (F/N) about the murder, or supposed suicide as she made it look, of Yuki. The stuffed rabbit was looking at me with it's one beady eye as its owner looked at me with a crazed look, no matter how well she thought she hid it. It was honestly terrifying that she thought she could hide it.
She tried convincing me that she had helped Yuki end her suffering because of Kanato? What did he have to do with anything? It made no sense, but what did when you were talking to a serial killer? I hadn't thought I would expose her by finding her in the act, so my thought process stopped and was ruled by fear. The only action that seemed logical was to scream, and I think she figured that out. She tried to reach me, but I was already starting, the sound beginning to rip through my throat. But, as the sound started to take form, a cold hand covered my mouth, stopping my voice from ever surfacing.
(F/N)'s eyes seemed to change to conflicting emotions of love and fear, which made me panic. Everyone knew that she had been spending a lot of time together and that she was obviously infatuated with him. I looked behind me to see the person I feared, Kanato Sakamaki, the Sakamaki brother with the least mental stability. His smile was crazed, his eyes matching making him look just as insane as the rumors say. I could barely hear (F/N) say something as my focus was on the boy who's hand was close to crushing my neck.
"Nothing you need to be surprised about." Kanato answered (F/N), his tone of voice laced with insanity. "Just watching over you as you slowly slip into madness." I let out another shudder as I felt Kanato lean toward me, his breath cold on my ear.
I tried to ask what he was doing, but his hand still covered my mouth so no noise came out. "Mutter word of this to anyone, and I'll personally cut you open and gut you. Your family seems loving, so maybe they'll love your insides just as they loved your outer shell?"
He let me go after that, and I could only think about running away. The fight or flight instinct is real people!
I took a deep breath as I leaned against the wall. I could never have guessed that Kanato would care that much about a living person as no one has seen him talk with anything other than the stuffed bear he always carried around. And what did he mean by watching her sink into madness? Was he the cause of (F/N)'s sudden personality change?
So many questions flitted through my head as I calmed down. I couldn't say anything...not yet. I needed to get all the facts first, then I'd free that poor girl that was wrapped around the psycho maniac's finger.
