I know its all
You've got to just be strong
And its a fight just to keep it together
I know that you think that you are
Too far gone
But hope is never lost
Hope is never lost
-You're Gonna be Okay, by Brian and Jenn Johnson☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The moment Edmund stepped out of the tent he was momentarily blinded by the light."Ooh. Brightness." He heard Peter gasp. They just stood for another few seconds and then Edmund ran off.
The camp had much less men than both of them expected or remembered.
Suddenly a scream echoed through the camp. Edmund and Peter both ran to the sound. Edmund nearly tripped and fell, but he caught himself in time.
At the same time trumpets rang through the camp and all the men and guards shot up.
Mannix ran through the camp, almost literally dragging Luna by her hair.
"The Narnians! Kill them all! Kill the prisoners! Kill as many as you can!" He screamed at his men. They nodded obediently and ran to get their weapons. Mannix saw them and he glowered, but not in a way they expected. He didn't even seem to realize they were out.
Luna did and pressed her hands over her mouth, tears streaming down her face.
He shoved her towards them, Edmund caught her and helped her stand. Peter looked like he wants to kill someone, which in essence, he probably did.
"E-Ed...mund." She fainted and he barely caught her before she hit the ground.
Peter took a deep breath and yelled, tunning towards the heat of the battle. Edmund worked on waking her up.
"Luna, wake up. We need to find your baby. Luna... Oh Aslan, help us!" He said.
Her eyelids fluttered open for a moment.
"P-please take care of Marci... please." She gasped out weakly. Edmund forced tears to leave his eyes and he blinked.
"Y-you want to know... why i called her Marci?" She asked. Edmund bit his lip.
"Save your strength." He hushed. She shook her head.
"I... I'm dying, Edmund." She stated. He took a shaky breath.
"Tell me." He said. She closed her eyes, then opened them again.
"Marci was the closest name I could find to 'mercy'. Aslan, he told me that he would provide a family for my little girl. You will find her a family... right?" She asked. Edmund chuckled.
"Yes. I'm sure we can." He whispered. She nodded slowly then closed her eyes.
She was dead.
Edmund stood up and went into the tent he thought the baby was in, Marci was asleep. Edmund picked her up. The battle was finishing the Narnian's were obviously winning. Peter looked at Edmund, who was holding Marci, and bit his lip.
"Where's-"
Edmund shook his head.
"She didn't make it. I promised her that we would take care of her child." He whispered. The reality of everything crashing down in him.
Peter held back a cry and shook his head.
"It isn't fair." He whispered. Edmund closed hia eyes tightly afainst the stinging tears.
"EDMUND! PETER!"
Edmund's eyes flew opened at the sound of Lucy's voice. In one quick moment. She was hugging him tightly. He sighed and leaned into the hug. Peter attempted to explain what had happened. Lucy silenced him.
"Shush. It doesn't matter. Edmund's dehydrated." She said. Edmund was faintly aware of Peter taking Marci from him, but he felt so dizzy. He couldn't help it as he pitched forwards into Lucy's arms. And then blackness consumed him.
