I spent Sunday sitting around, and Monday came quickly.
Zen and I found that I lived fairly close to his rehearsal studio and so I met him there. It was a large brick building, and just as Zen said all I had to say to the guards to let me in was that I'm a friend of his.
He was already there when I walked in and while he was talking to a co-star of his, he quickly finished their conversation as soon as he saw me.
"Y/N!" He enveloped me in a warm embrace, and smiled down at me. He's so tall; I barely reach his chin.
"Zen!" I laugh.
"You look lovely today, little lady." I blush.
"And you look quite handsome too." He just smiles at this. "So what is your play about?" I ask. He hasn't been as talkative about this play in the chatroom as he usually is.
"A vampire romance," he leans closer and whispers in my ear. "If you stay long enough you'll get to see the scene where they rip my shirt off~" My face turns bright red and a few girls glance over and giggle.
"Um-" I don't know what to say. "I'll be sure to stay long enough for that then."
Zen laughs. "You're so cute when you're flustered~"
If my face could be any redder it would.
"Ah, shit. As much as I love talking with you, rehearsals about to start," He guides me over to a chair in front of the stage. "You can sit here. I'll come grab you when it's gone." With that he leaves.
He's soon back though, but on the stage. When he first comes out he gives me a quick wink, but he's soon in character. I'm shocked by how immersed he gets in his acting; it's like he's a different person!
They only get through a couple of scenes, but like Zen promised I do get to see his shirt ripped off. My face turned as red as a tomato though, and I broke him out of character for a moment as he couldn't contain his laughter at my flustered state. The rest of the performance went well, and I was dying to know what happened next. I told Zen this as he got off stage.
"Well you'll have to come see the real performance then," He winks. "I see you really liked the shirtless scene so I'll make sure I get you front row seats." I blush for what feels like the hundredth time today. "Shall we go for a late lunch now?"
Lunch sounds good. I'm starving. "Sure," I smile up at him. "Where should we go?"
"I know this great pub downtown. It's not too far from here so we can walk. It'll help us burn off the food."
We head out and start walking to the pub. Our walk there was uneventful, but the experience at the pub itself was crazy. As soon as Zen and I walked in the place exploded. Everyone cheered and welcomed him in, poking and prodding at me while asking my name, who I was, how long we've been dating, and it was clear Zen was a regular here.
"Hey, hey! Hands off the lady. And it's our first date and I'm trying to make an impression here so lay off will ya?" I smile at this. Zen and I have known each other for a while now, he has no need to 'make an impression' on me. He turns to me and leads me to the outside patio. It's much quieter here. "Sorry about the ruckus. The boys in there are loud, but it's a small price to pay for the best deep fried chicken in town." I just smile. I'm content sitting out here with him and talking.
A waitress comes up and asks us what we want, and of course Zen orders fried chicken and a beer. I smile and say I'll have the same, minus the beer. A coke is a better suit for me.
"It's refreshing to be on a date with someone who's not counting calories."
"Hell I'm surprised I'm the weight I am! I constantly eat like this!" I laugh.
"You know, even if you were 800 pounds I'd still feel the same way about you, Y/N." Bonding over fried chicken, huh. That's a new one.
"And how do you feel about me?" I ask, my heart pounding.
"Ah you know that," he looks away grinning. "Just look at the smirk on your face." He laughs then gets more serious. "You know how I feel, Y/N. and if I'm honest, I've never felt this way for anyone else."
"I-I don't know what to say." By the end of this week I'm going to have to choose someone, but I can't make my decision on the first date!
"Don't say anything, not yet. Think about it for a while and let me know then. I'm willing to wait for you, Y/N."
"Zen..." I let him name trail off.
He perks up all of a sudden. "Oh! There's our chicken! Right on time!" He starts eating as soon as the plate is set in front of him. I can't help but giggle.
"Are you-" he says between bites. "Laughing at my love for fried chicken?!"
I laugh some more. "Of course not! I think it's admirable how devoted you are!" We're both laughing by the end of the conversation. I could get used to this; visiting his plays, walking to lunch with him and eating fried chicken, which I admit was the best I've ever had.
Once we were both done he sighed. "This is the end of the date, eh?"
"I guess so." I say. I don't want it to end either, but it's time.
"Should I walk you home?" He looks at me expectedly.
"You walk me home, nothing more." I finally make him blush.
"I-I wasn't-" he scrambles to explain himself and I just laugh until he finally understands.
"It was just a joke," I explain. "Of course you can walk me, but only half way. Security, remember?"
He recovers quickly. "Alright then. Shall we go?" He sticks his arm out as if he's a gentleman offering a lady his arm in the 1800s. I accept it and we walk like that, arm in arm all the way home. We stop by a large oak tree. When we get there he sighs.
"I know you don't have an answer yet, pretty lady, but would it be okay if I kissed you?" He grins. "It's the standard way to end a date."
I think for a moment. Would this get serious if I accept? Would he think I'm one hundred percent interested? Maybe this is just another way to test the boys out. As shallow as it is, perhaps their kissing skills will play a part in my decision. I nod and then wait.
His hand comes and cups my cheek, the other hand by his side. He stared at my eyes for a moment before pressing his lips to mine, extremely softly. It only lasted a couple of seconds but I was knocked off my feet. The atmosphere of the large tree swaying in the wind and his soft lips on mine worked together to be a scene straight out of a movie.
"You sure you can get home alright?" I nod, too stunned to say anything. "I'll see you later then, pretty lady." He grins and walks off, leaving me speechless.
----------------------------------------------
When I get home I'm exhausted and ready for bed even though it's only 6:30pm.
I don't get any alone time though, because as soon as I step into the door I get a message from Seven. "How does tomorrow at 1pm sound?"
"Sounds good. What are we doing again?" I text back quickly. As much as I want to sleep this piques my interest.
"A secret~ oooh~" I laugh. "I'll come pick you up then! Secret Agent 707 awayyyyy~!"
I hop into bed without taking my makeup off and fall asleep, dreaming of giant oak trees with large branches that sway methodically in the wind and soft kisses from pretty boys.
