Chapter 2
We went to various stalls in the mall. We shopped for new clothes, shoes, bags, hats, make ups, and all. I also shopped for contact lenses and pairs of glasses.
Our last stop before we go to the spa and eat dinner was the jewelry store. As we approach the stands for the necklaces, we came across to the ring’s stand. There I saw a couple rings identical to ours.
“Sam take a------. Oh! That looks like your ring.”
“Yeah! That ring.” I said bitterly.
“Where is that by the way?”
“The ring were on his.”
“Ring? Shouldn’t it be rings? Cause they are two?”
“Don’t question my grammatical ability Den. It should really be ring without a S because he lost his ring.”
“What? When? How? Why?”
“I don’t know. Maybe he is too careless to keep it or maybe there are certain circumstances that made him accidentally lost the ring. Either way, I don’t give a damn anymore.”
“Fine! So why is your ring on his?”
She’s asking a very sensitive thing.
*Flashback*
It was our 2nd year anniversary when he gave me that ring.
“Sam, I give you this ring as a sign of my love for you. As long as you are wearing this ring, I promise to never leave your side and always be the right man for you. Never keep this out of your fingers. As long as you have this ring with you, I will and will always be the only man that will wait for you at the altar then vowing in front of God and the people to be with you forever. Promise me that you will never take this away even after we got married.”
*EOF*
Do you really think that I will still keep a ring with a broken promise? How can I possibly recover from the pain that he had caused me if I would still linger the proof of his lies in my hand or rather fingers? What do you think is the feeling of wearing something that has been very special to you and bores a very special promise that you taught will be fulfilled in the near future?
“That ring isn’t just a simple couple or identical ring. That was a promise ring. Do you ever think that I will keep that despite of its broken purpose huh Den?”
“But what if there is still a chance Sam?”
“Den, you are still a great believer of our loveteam huh?”
“Guilty as charged.” She said smiling. She is really an unbreakable spirit.
“When will you really stop hoping Den?”
“If either of you will be married to somebody else.”
“Honestly Den? You are a hopeless case.”
Her craziness makes me somehow forget the pain that is in me. But a big part of that pain still lingers deep down to my spine.
I gathered all my strengths to buy a new necklace and a bracelet. Maybe the thing that I need to do to unlove him is to keep all the things and memories that we have in a deep deep dungeon. Because I know that we will never be the same as before.
“I heard that Sam Arellano is in the States. You know her of course?” I heard a girl in the jewelry shop talking. I’m a bit curious because I heard my name.
“Yes I know her of course. The Filipina teen actress that disappeared after the news about their breakup with the hottest guy in town which is Lee Alleje?” I looked at Den and she is likewise listening to the two girls gossiping.
