The Governor

"Uh... "I groaned, rolling over on my bed. What did I do to deserve such pain. "Oh my God" I whispered to myself as I replayed the events that took place yesterday in my mind. my body hurts so much this morning. I remember i attended a party not a gym class. I had fun yesterday evening, when I went out for a party. Wait!  Was it even a party more like a professionals get together,with friends and other new faces at the party. I don't even think it was a party. Quick question. Do governors and senators attend parties ? Do they have fun like I saw some of them doing yesterday. "Oh please. Cut them some slack .they have lives too lady" my conscience shot back. "Uh... "I let out a painful sigh pulling my body off the bed walking towards my bathroom to freshen up. A few Minutes after i was done with my business the door bell rings. "Dingdong" seriously Who is it? Its too early to visit someone.  I don't do that so I don't expect anyone to try that with me.  Call before you show up.  Yea,  that's me. "Uh! " a gasp escaped my lips. "I can't believe I just did that" I whispered. Sorry My bad. I didn't even introduce myself and here I am rambling about something you don't even know about. I'm sorry. By the way my name is Semon Annica Ace but I prefer being called semon Ace, don't really fancy the Annica name. And I'm a 30 year old woman. I'm a lawyer by profession.  I'm single but ready to mingle. Haha, life is good,  when you're a woman with value. Hold on.  Last time I checked,  someone was at the door.
"Who is it? " i yelled as i walked through the corridor then to the hall towards the front door. I peep through the peep hole like I do. Oh it's just that crazy girl I call a best friend.  I take a step back unlocking the door.  I turned the knob opening the door.
"Oh hey baby! " i beamed  opening the door wider so she could walk in. And like she always does , she plops down on my couch making herself comfortable. "Really Ace? You're wearing sweats to work?" She asked. " Seriously?  How rude.  You knock on my door this early morning and not even a good morning for me. Now you're asking if I'm going to work in sweats.  you must be crazy?. By the way, No. I'm too tired to go to work. Besides I've been given something similar to a break but it's not close to the word break. I need to rest a bit my brain is too tired to work on the trending case today. And also that party last night was wild." i informed her. "What about you? " i asked.
"Me! Oh please spare me for today. I can't go to work.  I already called In at the office but I'll stop by at the orphanage to finish my shift. My boss won't be too happy with me if I miss today also." She replied. " oh okay" I said while nodding my head.  Bellavia works so hard and I'm so proud of her and where she has got to in life.  It has not been easy for her during the past years.  She works two jobs and it's stressful but she tries her best for herself ." I need rest also, besides we both attended that party. " she chipped in. I walked over to the couch sitting across her.
"so tell me about the guy you met,  or should I say the one I saw you talking to last night and  you claim is a Governor. I'm curious Ace spit it out" she pressured.
" oh! Him. Uh... well, the Governor,  he claims he is,  is a 38year old man.  His fit and my kind of guy. Wait... Do you think so. Or I'm lying to myself oh God!  I don't even know him that well." Bella is just sitting there looking at me with the Get-to-the-point-already look. " okay! I think I'm kinda interested in him. " Bella let's out a squeal. "WHAT! you think?." She yelled. "Yea. Come on Bella,  you of all people should know that I haven't felt like this in a while so please pardon me if I'm a bit lost in this maze. He's handsome. No scratch that,  he's beautiful. But i want to be friends first. " i said whispering the last part.
" It's okay. I understand. calm down Ace" she moved closer pulling me into a side hug " you've been in three relationships and none worked. Just stay calm and lets see what will happen. I've got your back" she said pecking my temple.
" You know and I'm starting to regret all those times Bells" i confessed.  "But this man, he's something else. Even though I don't really know him. The few words we shared or he shared with me just makes me feel, No! it gives me the assurance that he's a real man,A real man with intelligence. You know he said he's been married before but not anymore. And he has a daughter.  If you're wondering why i said he has married before." Bella giggled. "He lost his wife years ago. " i added.
" oh" she said her mouth forming the O shape. "That's so sad poor little girl." She whispered. "How did you know all this" she asked.  "oh he told me. We had a long conversation. You have no idea. " i told her smiling so hard my jaws could just snap and I won't be able to smile anymore.
"oh I see." She replied wiggling her brows at me. "Stop that. I know what your thinking" I said. " please" she replied rolling her eyes at me. We both burst into laughter at our childishness.
" so what's this mystery man's name? "Bella asked breaking the silence.
" oh yea! I almost forgot, he said something like John Scott." I said .
" John Scott?" She said his name with confussion written all over her beautiful face. I've never heard of a Governor called John Scott. The Governors name is  Arran Scott not John" she said.
" oh well,  that's his name. Maybe he is not the governor of this state but another."  " But Have you seen him before? " i asked . " who? " she asked
" the Governor of this state? " i deadpanned. " oh!  No, no. People hardly see him not to talk of me."  She said shaking her head like it can never in a million years happen.
" anyways he asked me out so I'm meeting him tonight.  We're going to have dinner together. " i said wiggling my brows at her.
" you have got to be kidding me. Right?" I shook my head. Then I mouthed a no " oh my gosh. Okay, okay then I guess I'll see you later. Have fun, be careful and don't ruin your chance. I love you Ace. Behave! " she warned. "Oh my! " she whispered as she got up to leave.
"I love you more Bells and i will behave" i yelled as she shut the door.
   "Uh... "I sighed as i threw myself backwards into the couch. "John, john, john" i kept murmuring his name with a smile on my face.
