For a Smile They Can Share The Night, it Goes on and on and on and on
(12:45)Maya didn't normally just let people look at her Drawings. Especially strangers. But this stranger with the bright green eyes and lips that curled into a smirk that made her insides crawl and her mind only wonder what they would taste and feel like against her own. This boy with raggedy hair and rough hands that ran across her knee to replace the lost hand she had slipped from his grip.
"Cmon open up a bit." His muttered. Suddenly she was opening the book without a second thought. He looked down at the book as she opened it. At first there was a picture of a sunset, with bright colors shining through the picture. He smiled as he lifted the small book onto his lap. Next was a pink willow tree with a bench beneath it, it had grey edges. Maya ducked her face behind her hand as she watched Lucas look through the book. He flipped through a few more pictures. Some were sketches of everyday things, a pot of flowers, a sign for a shop, a dress, a cup of coffee, etc. he saw a picture of a girl, she has brown painted hair and brown eyes.
"Who's that?" Lucas asked as he looked up at Maya.
"That's my best friend, Riley." She said with a half smirk. She continued, "We have been best friends since we were little kids." Her eyes lit up, she seemed to be replaying memories in her head. He flipped the page one more time when Maya clawed back for the book.
"What are you doing Shortstack?" He questioned as he gripped the book tighter.
"The next page isn't important." She muttered. He looked down to see what she was trying to cover. It was him. Well, pieces of him. It was the outline of his body, chest up. His hair had been perfectly constructed, a nose was in the middle, and the outline of his eyes was in process. He smirked devilishly.
"You're drawing me." He whispered as he smiled at her. Maya hid her face behind her hand, he lifted his hand up and moved it.
"I love it." He murmured as he traced a finger over the paper. She sent him a smile. Her smile was pure, it was wide and always had a hint of a smirk hidden behind it. It spread all the way to her eyes when she was feeling it, and only ghosted her lips when she wasn't. It made you smile back as every single one of her pearly white teeth would show.
"I'lol let you finish that." He said as he laid the book back into her lap. She giggled lightly.
"That looks really creepy on my part, and I'm very sorry for that." She said with a laugh, a strand of blonde hair fell into her face while she giggled. He lifted his hand up and brushed it out of her face.
"Trust me, I've been through a lot creepier girls." He said with a laugh.
"Pretty boy like you, I'm sure you have. I'm sure all the girls in Texas were all over you." Maya said as she faked a southern accent, a hand placed over her chest as she gushed.
"Well ma'am, I'd like to say i was quite the heart throb." He said as he tipped an imaginary hat and sent her a wink. They both erupted into laughter. Lucas's smile was slightly crooked. One lip tilted higher than the other, and it was adorable. It made her stomach erupt in a fit of butterflies, that she had never felt before. It made her heart thump a little louder, and her breath pick up. He laughed with his whole body, and it was the funniest yet cutest thing Maya had ever seen. They smiled brightly at each other, the night was just beginning.
"You have a very pretty smile." He said quietly as his hand interlocked with hers. She dropped her head and let the blush come. She rolled her eyes and used her free hand to punch him.
"It's not. If you want to see pretty go back to that drawing of Riley. Everyone wants her. She is beautiful." Maya muttered lowly. Lucas pulled the book out, and flipped it over. He would look at the picture and then look at Maya.
"Well, she's very pretty. I will give you that." Lucas began, and Maya lowered her head. "But, she had nothing on you. Plain Jane. You, however, have a mystery to you. Just by looking at this picture I can tell you that Riley is outgoing, very lovable, ditzy, and in love with love." Lucas rattled off, like he'd met her a hundred times.
"Well you wouldn't be wrong Huckleberry." Maya said as she picked at one of her nails.
"But when I look at you, I don't know what I see just yet. Your mysterious, and beautiful. And I've always loved a good mystery." She laughed once again. He smiled at her smile, happy to make her feel good again. Maya deserved to know how beautiful she was and Lucas was gonna remind her as many times as it took.
"Are you a good detective? Because I am one difficult mystery." Maya said as she leaned forward, a smirk playing on her lips. He leaned forward as well, they faces being inches from one another.
"Good? I'm the best sweetheart." He whispered onto her lips. His eyes dropped from the beautiful ocean, to the slight pink bee stung lips of Maya Hart. He glanced back up quickly. She didn't know what she wanted to do in this moment. He was right there. Right in front of her. And she was so close, so close to just going for it. But it was decided for her when the bus slung to a stop and he pulled back. She sighed heavily and took a deep breath. He did the same.
"Well, even the best can't figure me out." She joked she gave him a sarcastic smile.
"Then tell me." He responded as he leaned forward, not nearly as close as last time. He couldn't handle the heat that rose all the way up his neck and made his palms sweaty, so he kept his distance. Even though their hands were still intertwined.
"Okay. 20 questions. Best way to get to know someone." She said with a devilish smile. He nodded his head before he even thought twice. Maya was a perfect mix of innocence and sin. And he was dying to see what that felt like.***
Authors note
Let's just ignore how long it took to get this out. Because in my defense. This is hard. I should have at least two chapters go up this week. And hopefully I can finish this story soon. But no promises on that. Especially since it took me like six months just to finish this chapter. I haven't been motivated. And for that i am super sorry! Lobe you all kisses!
