Fleur's pov
I opened the front door, my torch clutched tightly in my hand, Addilyn was holding my other hand. She's such a chicken.
We walked out of the door, I could feel Addilyn's grip tighten around me. I tried to shake her hand off because one; my hands are freezing cold and I need to put them in my jersey pocket and two; her grip is eventually going to squish my hands until they look like dismembered prunes.
But her grip was tight as hell, it wasn't going to come off. It was just going to tighten even more.
We trekked outside, a thick jungle of trees and bushes lay ahead of us. We lived in our grandpa's old house, he died last year sadly, but we got his house.
A thing crunching of trees could be heard and shivered on the spot. "See, I told you I could hear something!" Addilyn complained.
"Shut it..." I whispered at her, I wriggled my hand out of her tight grip and put my hand over her mouth and pointed to the trees.
A large silhouette could be seen. I pointed it at, and I could feel Addi's jaw drop. I took my hand off her mouth and shushed her with my fingers.
"Look, now shut up, you might get us killed." I whispered into her ear. I could tell she was crapping her pants by her facial expression.
"Come on, lets go..." Addi whispered, she took my hand and turned back towards the house but I stood frozen to the spot.
"I'm going to see what it is, are you coming or not?" I asked harshly pulling away from Addilyn.
"Fleur, what if it's something dangerous? We could get seriously hurt." She said slowly, her eyes fixed on the jungle in front of us.
"Then we'll use these..." I whispered pulling two guns from my pockets. Addilyn looked at me like I was an absolute psychopath.
I knew about grandpa's gun collection, I wasn't stupid. Jake told me about them. I haven't seen Jake in almost a year, he's been in Cairnholm, a little island somewhere in Wales.
He's been traveling with Uncle Franklin for ages, I haven't heard from him at all.
"Where in the world did you get those?" Addilyn said quietly, holding the gun in her hands, inspecting it.
"I stole it, I found grandpa's old gun collection." I whispered smirking.
She chuckled slightly then stopped and looked at me concerned. "We'll be fine..." It's probably someone taking an early stroll."
"No one takes an stroll this early in the morning Fleur..." Addilyn said quietly.
I took the gun in one hand and my torch in the other, I shone the torch into the darkness. I looked over at the thick jungle of mysteries.
I trudged over to the fence, my shoes digging into the ground, I could feel the mud going into my slippers. I'm going to need some more slippers.
...
Everything was quiet, I held out my gun in front of me, my torch shining into the distance. We were now in the middle of what seemed like no where.
I couldn't see the house now. I saw Addilyn shaking beside me, I know she could be a total wuss sometimes but in reality, I was being a wuss right now too.
That's when I saw, out of the corner of my eye. It's long arms and legs dangling, and it's jaggered skin pulling over its face. It mouth was curved slightly, its sharp teeth showing, and inside its mouth, were tentacles.
I nearly gagged, I turned around and was greeted by the creature. "Addilyn move!" I screamed, she turned and and screamed and ran off into the distance. I shot it multiple times in the face, then in a puff of smoke, it disappeared.
"Addilyn!" I yelled, no reply. I looked around me and saw footprints in the mud, to small to be anything else.
I followed the footprints carefully and I heard a sobbing sound. I listened to it carefully, and saw a small child curled up on the ground. Her ponytail in a mess.
I bend down and she make lifts up her face, her covered in tears.
"Addilyn, I owe you a bag of lollies..." I whispered. Addi chuckled and wiped the tears off her face.
"What was that thing?" She asked slightly more concerned.
"I have no idea..."
...
"I'm not crazy!" I yelled, but the therapist thought differently. Me and Addilyn were considered crazy. Apparently me and Addi had something called an 'acute stress reaction.' But it's different because me and Addi both saw it.
It was there, it was real, but we had no proof. It had been an act of imagination, it wasn't really there. My mom thought we had officially lost our minds and she sent us to get therapy every week.
"Has there been any upsetting things happen these past few months?" The therapist asked.
"Yes, their grandfather died, I don't think they've quite gotten over it yet..." Mom said.
"Grandpa died a year ago..." I huffed. "I've gotten over it. And we both saw it, so maybe it was real!"
The therapist, Doctor Smith, looked at me like I was absolutely crazy. I sighed and sat back in my chair, completely ignoring the next ten minutes of the conversation.
"Maybe spending some time with their cousin Jacob in Cairnholm will do them so good." Doctor Smith suggested. My jaw dropped. One; I was excited to see Jake, two; I was annoyed because Jake hadn't sent me a letter or anything or three; I don't wanna go traveling, I hate it.
Then it was decided, me and Addilyn were going to Cairnholm... What could go wrong?
A/N: So I've written another chapter for you guys! Some assholes thought this was plagiarism but it ain't... So yeah!
