'Are you sure you don't like him?'

'I- I don't know actually.'

'Finn, don't mess this up. You have to do this."

'Well jeez, thanks self. That's the motivation I need.'

For the hundredth time Finn found himself thinking of Millie like he had for the past few days. At points it would be for hours or just in passing. And all that thinking had culminated into one thought: he was going to ask her out.

He knew there was no chance she'd ever say yes. He knew there was a big possibility that he could ruin one of the best friendships he'd ever had. Most of all, he knew he was risking losing her.

But he had to take a chance. As much as he'd hate himself if he ruined everything, he'd hate himself more if he continued living like this.

Seeing her put butterflies in his stomach, her laugh was enough to brighten his day, hell just being in her presence was enough to make him feel like he was flying.

"Finnie? Are you listening? I know I'm pretty but you don't need to stare that long." Millie said as she snapped her fingers, bringing Finn back to earth.

"I wasn't-I wasn't staring. I was just uh, lost in thought. Just thinking about stuff." Finn stammered as he struggled to form the excuse in his mind, much less the words in his mouth.

"Would this stuff happen to be me?" Millie jokingly said as she struck a pose. Finn however turned as white as a ghost.

'Can she read my thoughts?'

"Wow calm down there Finnster. Was my joke really that bad?" Millie asked, mock hurt in her voice.

'An escape route!'

"Yeah that joke was absolutely terrible." Finn said, continuing the joke. Millie suppressed a giggle before she put on the act again. "Well how rude of you to say that Wolfhard. I'd expect more from a friend like you."

Friend. The word rang in Finn's mind.

'Make a move idiot!'

"Hey Millie, what're you doing after school?"

Millie looked up in thought, running through her mental calendar. "Nothing that I can remember, why?" She replied. Her voice perked up at the thought of what adventure Finn would have planned for her.

"I was uh- I was wondering if you'd like to um-" Finn sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck as he struggled to get the words out.

'Come on, she's staring at you like you're crazy!'

"iwaswonderingifyouwantedtogetsomethingtoeat?" Finn said, or more accurately, he mumbled.

"I'm sorry, what?" Millie asked, not understanding a word Finn had said.

'Great now she definitely thinks you're an idiot. Might as well say what you meant to say.'

"I was wondering if you'd uh- want to get something to eat? I heard the new diner is supposed to be good." Finn repeated, clearer this time, but more nervous.

"I'd love too! See you at 6:30?" Millie said.

"Wait did you just say yes?" Asked a baffled Finn.

'No way that just happened.'

"Yes? Wasn't it pretty obvious? I gave you a time and everything. Are you feeling okay today Finn?"

Finns' mind was overwhelmed with all sorts of emotions. He barely whispered out a "Never better." Before jumping up in the middle of the library and running out, whooping and jumping the whole way out.

Millie laughed as she saw Finns silly reaction.
"That's my Finn alright. My Finn."
