I woke up, jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom to bathe.
I met up with her wearing the white T-shirt with a red heart.
For her... One last run.
The day was bustling with business, I tried my best not to screw things up, unconsciously though, part of me had a different vibe, one I thought died years ago.
I had to break the ice so while we were going to the mall, I figured she'd like going to her favorite stores.
She was like a kid in a candy store, spirited, without a care in the world.
Later on...
We sat down at our favorite restaurant, green leave decorations, dim atmosphere and light chatter covered with blissful instrumental ambiance.
We exchanged gestures, shared funny jokes and remembered the good old days.
Never for a second did I brought out words plain as plastic to our conversation, I opened up to her, vulnerable and weak.
We were unarmed, no fights, no problems, no nothing.
Her smile, was as genuine as the dimples on her cheeks, for once in a very long time, I wasn't afraid to be me and love her for who I am once more.
For once, in a very long time that we were together, we brought it back again.
After our meal, we set out for home.
We arrived at the bridge, standing in awe as the sun goes to sleep. The last flare tucking in the distance.
I looked up at her, she's still smiling, still hopeful, regardless of everything.
We let our hearts talk that time, we apologized to each other, set things straight and honestly talking about how we feel, it lifted the weight out of our conscious, and all we could say after that were the three words.
It was late, but it was never for us.
The evening was elegant as a Nightingale whistling its wings across the veil of moonlight.
Everyone was in high spirits, drunk people merrily singing a song on a karaoke machine and friendly exchanges of people we loved as we cross paths.
The countdown was starting, we stood in anticipation, I locked eyes with her once more before the final number struck.
Then...
The rainbow stars lit the skies in a dazzling display of dreams.
I gripped her hand tighter, then she pulled me into a waltz.
We danced, under the aurora skies.
I embraced her, not letting a second go to waste.
Time, for a short moment, moved slower, I remembered those eyes staring back at me.
I saw someone familiar, someone, I met before.
The very same girl who stood in front of me...
In the fields of yellow fireflies.
I moved in close to her, tilting my head slightly to the left, and met her halfway.
Celebrations were heard all throughout the night, it was a wonderful sight to behold. And one we will always cherish close to our hearts.
M and C lived that night, their final moments captured in vivid experience. Immortalized in the hearts of those who've read their story.
I'm sure, you're eager to know their ending.
Thank you for sticking with me through the line of text.
Well... shall we?
It's time we find out they're happy... ever after.
