"What's for dinner tonight?" I asked Louis who was busy staring at the grass. Meanwhile, my hands were busy tying my shoelaces. Overall, the whole 'human knot' game turned out to be somewhat enjoyable. At least no one died.

"Some more disgusting shit those people make.," Louis mumbled, his eyes still fixed on the grass. He has been quiet ever since the whole Amy incident. Even throughout the game, Louis was the one who was just quietly following orders. As we approached the final community circle, Louis was just lost. He did not have the sparkle in his eye or the excitement in his tone.

Mikayla actually turned to me to talk about his seemingly depressed state, "it's like how he was in the beginning. Amazing how just a few words can affect one? Right?"
I only responded to her with a curt nod, my eyes following his every move.

"Louis-" "-Ishita"

We both spoke at the same time, eyes mingling, breathing even and thoughts alike.

We were thinking about what happened.

What happened today?

Why did it happen? Why do people think that it is okay to bring others down?

Do someone's harsh words have to serve as a self-defense mechanism?

"You first," I told him with a small smile that I desperately hoped he'd return. He did. Louis smiled at me. His thin and pink lips broke out into a small smile which can easily brighten my mood.

His smile is so innocent that one will immediately forget all the demons that used to lie behind. And why should one address someone's demons anyway? Don't we all have demons? Or, don't we all used to have demons? Everyone has their fair share of demons lurking around in some obsolete portion of their brains. Only some can feel them. And the people who are here at this recovery center can. They have heard their demons and now they are addressing them.

They are not just addressing their demons, but their deepest fears.

"Thanks for saying that to Amy... Back there.," Louis hesitated a little before pointing to where we were earlier. I nodded with a smile, "I'd do that again if I have to." Louis smiled slightly but it turned into a frown.

"What happened?" My eyebrows furrowed as I scooted a little closer to him.

"We were supposed to meet Harry today but just because of this game, visiting hours to his group are over."

I glanced at my watch to check the time, "but it's only 1:30." Louis nodded, "group B consists of patients fighting illnesses like cancer or have amnesia and stuff like that. Some patients who are slowly developing such illnesses are also there."

"But how are they getting the help? Shouldn't they be at a hospital?" I asked him. Does Harry have some illness like this? Why is he in group B?

"They all have a chance at life but either their families have abandoned them or they are just not accepting the fact that they are becoming limited," Louis said as he pushed himself off the ground.

Extending his arm out to me, "I don't like using the word limited. Maybe they are just losing hope in themselves." I grabbed his hand as he pulled me up, "and how does Harry fit into this picture?"

Louis gave me a sad glance, our hands still connected, "Have you ever heard of the Usher syndrome?"

I, with a confused look, shook my head, "no. Why? What is it?"

Louis sighed as he started walking and talking simultaneously, "it is a disease in which one will slowly lose their hearing and sight."

"That's fücked up man," I whispered because I had nothing else to say. I am not dumb, I have understood Harry has this syndrome.

"I feel so bad for Harry..." I whispered once again except this time, I was remembering how happy he looked this morning when in reality he is upset.

Louis said nothing but kept his gaze on me. A few moments later, some wind started blowing, forcing me to wrap my arms around my body.

"We all feel bad about him," Louis said and pulled me so that his heavy and strong arm was covering some portion of my body and giving me warmth.

"We all do."
