Caleb Parker.

Something's wrong.

The words appear in my mind the instant I pull into my newly found mate's driveway. I see her shiver and can't help but ask her what's bothering her. She attempts to shrug it off and my mind goes selfishly to the thought that she was afraid of me. I run through all of my actions throughout the car ride wondering if the stolen stoplight kisses were too much.

"Are you afraid of me?" My mouth betrays me, the words falling undeterred from my lips.

I've known her all of twenty minutes and she has already begun to turn me into a spineless fool. I need to get a gri-

My thought is cut short as she answers hastily, "No!" Despite her words meant to reassure me, her eyes tell another story. As she speaks they dart around as if watching an enemy invisible to my own slight. She adds, "It's not you I'm afraid of, honest."

"Then what is it Soph?" I ask trying decipher the fear lingering in her eyes.

"I don't wanna talk about it right now," she mumbles, a small blush forming as her eyes are still glancing around us. "Can't we just get my stuff and go?"

I want to ask what's wrong again, but stop myself thinking: I may not tolerate secrets, especially ones that make my mate shiver in fear, but as this mate thing is still so new pushing it aside for the moment couldn't hurt. If I push her away now she before she gets to know me, she may never come back to me. Besides getting off on the wrong foot could damage the hope of making her shiver in another way tonight.

Instead I held in the smirk tugging at my lips and told her before opening my door, "As you wish, my lady."

I walked around to the passenger side breathing in the cool night air and feeling myself being to relax. I open her door and follow silently as she walks up the few steps to her front door. Once the key is in the lock I reach for her hand smiling to myself.

Man it feels good to know she's mine. I can feel my inner wolf's agreement as the words float through my mind.

I glanced around at her house while she pulled me forward towards the grand staircase that stretched across the foyer. It lead straight back into a dimmer hallway, contrasting my own home's stairs that branched into two directions. The house was pretty big and fancy but it was nothing compared to my own. I relaxed and allowed my mate to tug me along, mainly so I could get a glance at her great ass.

We walked down the hall stopping at the second door to the left. Her hand hesitated at the door handle and her eyes found mine.

"I've never had a boy in my room before," she spoke softly, a light blush shading her cheeks once again.

I chucked softly, my wolf secretly rejoicing that she hadn't been close enough to another male to let him inside her room. "Well if we're going to be mates then I suppose we should change that," my voice was teasing and a smirk worked it's way onto my mouth.

Her hand smacked my chest in a way that was probably meant to hurt but only made my grin grow larger. As she began to turn away I grabbed her wrists, gently pinning her against the door.

"I'm sorry love but was that meant to hurt?" I whispered in her ear, feeling her shudder against me.

"Yes-no I uh I don't know," she stuttered as the blush that seemed to always color her cheeks came back. The smile tugging at my lips broke free and I leaned in to kiss her lips gently.

I can't wait to get her home and see just how much of that shyness will last behind closed doors.
