Marcus
I've never been interested in buying a wife for myself. Honestly, if I had the choice, I wouldn't buy one at all. But if I don't, it'll make the family look bad, especially my Father. My Father is a rich man, being one in the Head of the Council in Lunatopia. I had no other siblings, except for my "half" ones, but I don't consider them my family. We all kinda hate each other. My mother died eight years ago, when I was ten. Cancer got the best of her. She was the only one in my family that I'd ever loved. My Father remarried a month after my mom died. It wasn't a surprise, Father never loved mom, he only used her for money. Only used her for me, to provide children. The prophecy states that if a male child is born, the father will receive ten thousand star chips.
So now we have our new mother, Sabrina. Selfish bitch if you ask me. She hated me, but I can't blame her, I'm never nice to her. She only wanted Father for his money. Sabrina provided Father three children, the twins, Alex and Carter, and my little sister, Paris. Alex and Carter were only two years younger than me. So yes, that means my Father cheated on mom. We aren't very fond of each other, but they're tolerable. My Father loves them. Gained him 40,000 star chips. It's double the gain if you have twins.
I had actually grown to like Paris. Of course, she doesn't have the same mother as me, but she is very sweet. She's only five, and is obsessed with me. It annoys Sabrina, which is honestly great, I love to annoy that bitch. Paris even told me that she loved me more than the twins, which made me laugh since I hate them too. Some days it felt like Paris was the only one there for me. Sometimes I felt as if she was a fragment of Mom. Which doesn't really make sense, but Paris was so mature for a five year old, so understanding. Yeah, you could say I loved her.
I was probably the only one that showed any affection for her. Alex and Carter didn't give a shit, obviously. Father hated her. He was expecting to have Paris be a boy, but when she was born, he was furious. So furious that a couple of days after she was born, Father beat Sabrina until she was black and blue. I believe that Sabrina could've loved Paris, but she had payed the price of being bruised for weeks because of Paris, which is probably why Sabrina hated her so much. Paris had no one but me.
Out of the blue, there's a knock at my bedroom door. "Marc? Marc let me in please?" Says a little voice. I lift myself out of bed and open the door. I look down at little Paris, with her ocean eyes and gold curls. She is so beautiful. When the time comes, every man in Lunatopia will want to buy her. I won't be able to handle watching her get taken away. "Daddy says he needs to talk to you. Mommy is making dinner too"
"Oh really? What is she making?" I ask enthusiastically.
  "Chicken pot pie, again"
I hated that dish so much, and Sabrina knows it. So now we have it once a week. Quickly, I pick up Paris and she shrieks. She wraps her tiny legs around my stomach. "How about we just have ice cream for dinner?" I tell her.
"Ice cream, ice cream!" She shouts. I laugh and walk into the kitchen. I find Sabrina stirring something in a pot, and Father reading a newspaper at the table.
As I walk in, Sabrina turns around to face me. Her 8 month pregnant belly is ginormous, and i almost want to laugh for some unknown reason. "You won't get any ice cream Paris, you don't deserve it. And Marcus? Put her down now, you're rounding her up"
"Why? She's perfectly fine. Plus, we're having fun" I say while glancing at Paris's pretty smile. I look back at Sabrina, who wants to say something, but Father speaks up.
"Don't argue with your mother, Marcus, now put Paris down. Now"
I burst into laughter and put Paris down. "Oh Father, you're terribly mistaken. My Mom died eight years ago, I don't suppose she's come back to life?"
"Don't sass talk me young man. You are completely and utterly disrespectful and ungrateful. Do you not see how great Sabrina is providing us? Giving me two sons, and cooking and caring for us? Not to mention, that pot pie smells heavenly dear"
I laugh at him saying "heavenly" he never says anything like that. "Whatever, that doesn't mean she's my mother" I say while sitting next to Father. "So, you needed to talk to me?"
"Yes. Sabrina? Would you mind leaving us?" She nods. She brings Paris with her as she leaves. "Marcus" he says and puts down his newspaper. "You are now eighteen, and I think it's time you start acting like a man. It's never a bad idea to get a head start on things"
"What are you trying to say?"
"Marcus... you're going to buy a wife. It would be prefect. I've found the most beautiful girl in all of her township, and she shouldn't be very expensive, she's seventeen and-"
"Since when have you started deciding my life for me? You've never been there for me. Even when I was a child. And now you come into my life and control it? Are you kidding me right now? Since when do I have to listen to you! I'm an adult for Luna's sake!" I shout.
"If you do not buy her Marcus, I will kill Paris myself. I know you love her, I see it in your eyes, the way you look at her. If you don't, your little sister is dead"
"How dare you bring Paris into this! She's only five fucking years old and you're threatening to kill her! She never did a god damn thing to you, to any of us!" I'm yelling now. Father stands up.
"Keep your god damn voice down before I kill you right where you're sitting"
I clench my hands into a fist and breathe. I want to explode. "Why do you want me to buy a wife anyways? Why is it important to you?" I ask.
"Marcus, if you buy a wife, we could be rich. Sure, Sabrina provided me with twin boys, and your mother with you, but I was stupid spending the money, I didn't invest in it. If you could just get her pregnant as much as you can-"
"Are you fucking kidding me Father? She's a human too! If I'm ever going to marry her, I will not throw her around the way you did with my mother and Sabrina!"
Father lifts his hand and backhands me across the mouth. My face is knocked to the side. "You will marry her, Marcus. You will give me all the money she makes by having children, so I can provide for you. And if you don't? Paris is a dead child. God, you are such a disappointment. I've already talked to her parents about it, and they are going to tell her. You will be married to her as soon as possible" he rises up from his seat and storms out of the room, leaving me with only my thoughts.
