Dawna
I still am somewhat confused about Serenity's lifestyle. Why wouldn't her father want her to keep the children? Wouldn't he make money from them if it's a boy? I may never know.
The rest of the car ride was fine. We pushed away the talk about Serenity's way of life and focused more on each other. We barely knew each other, we had just become friends. Serenity loved to play the guitar and piano, she was also a skilled painter. She said that if she were to marry someday and her husband would allow her to have a job, she would want to be a fine arts therapist. She wanted to help other women who were struggling as much as she was. Serenity had big dreams, I only wished for them to come true, she deserved it.
We arrived at Star shortly. The car ride flew by due to our small talks. "We're going to pretend that I am your husband, so talk to me as if I'm that okay? You got that Dawna?" Serenity asked.
"Yes I got it, but what if we get caught? We'll get thrown in jail" I asked worriedly.
"Trust me, I've done this a million times and have never gotten caught. You have nothing to worry about" she said as she stepped out of the car. "Let's go shopping!" Serenity shrieked in a girly voice. "I mean, let's go shopping" she said very manly. I giggled. It felt good to laugh.
We walked to a store downtown called Star Count. It was a very expensive store, but Serenity could afford it. We walked in and my eyes widened with the sight of all the clothes that laid before me. Yes, it wasn't my style, but I was too blown away to care. I wanted to try on everything. "Don't worry about the price, anything you want is on me" Serenity said as she flipped out her debit card.
"Wow! Thank you so much Seren-" I said stopping myself. "Thank you Samuel, I love you"
"You're welcome babe, I love you too" Serenity said as she tried to keep in her laughter. I couldn't. I let out a short laugh.
I looked over at the clothes in front of me. Just as I was about to pick up a blue crop top, a trooper grabbed my wrist and stopped me. "Where is your husband?" He demanded.
"I-I he was-" I looked around for Serenity. Where was she? There! She was over by the leggings. "He's over there, sir. The one in the black hoodie?"
All of the sudden, Serenity's hood fall off her head, exposing her platinum blonde bun. She quickly put her hood back over her head. She looked around nervously. "You little bitch. That is a woman as well! You have no husband, therefore you are under arrest and so is that little slut! Come with me, NOW" the trooper spit in my face.
"Wait please! I promise I can explain-" suddenly, the back of the troopers hand whipped across my face. "SHUT THE FUCK UP! YOU WILL NOT DISRESPECT A MAN LIKE THAT!" He said while slapping me again.
I started to cry softly. I was going to get arrested and never see my father again, never see my future husband. Someone kill me now.
"Sir?! What have you done to my wife? I left for a hot second and you have HIT HER?!" I hear a man yell. My face drapes over the troopers arm, my brown hair in my face.
"You- you're her husband? I am terribly sorry, it was a mis-"
"LET GO OF MY WIFE!" The trooper drops me and my knees hit the wood floor. I cry out in pain. I hear a pair of feet rushing towards me. "Honey are you okay? Please look at me"
I push my hair out of the way and meet a pair of deep, blue eyes. His skin is lightly tanned. His hair, fawn colored. Jawline, perfect.
Holy shit, this guy is hot. He grabs my cheek and brushes his thumb against where the trooper hit me. I wince and he notices. He quickly pulls me into his arms. I don't know who this man is, but I bury my face into his chest and cry softly. "Don't ever touch my wife again, do you understand me?"
"Yes sir, my apologizes" the trooper says as he stomps away. I pull my face away from the man. As I study his face, I realize he isn't a man. He's a boy. A boy that is my age.
"My friend is still in here, she's probably scared. Can we please find her?" I ask.
"Of course"
I stand and look for Serenity. She is still in the leggings area, crouched down with her knees bent and hugged tightly towards her chest. I run over to her. "Serenity? Serenity he's gone. It's okay" she looks up at me, her eyes wet with tears.
"I thought I was gonna die, WE were gonna die for sure"
"Me too, but this man saved us" I said gesturing towards the ocean eyed boy.
"We should get out of here" he said. I helped Serenity up and we quickly walked out of Star Count.
"So what's your name?" The boy asked.
  "I'm Dawna" I say quietly.
  "That's a beautiful name"
  "Thank you"
"I'm Justin, it's a pleasure to meet you" he says as he shakes my hand. "And who are you?" Justin says as his eyes peel away from mine and focus on Serenity.
  "I'm Serenity, Serenity VanWarren"
"Hello Serenity, I believe I know your father. He is.. a very interesting man"
"I do not like to speak of him. Anyway, I should get going, mother will be looking for me. Would you mind taking care of her, Justin? Bring her home maybe?" Serenity asked as she batted her mascara free eyelashes.
  "Of course"
"Thank you. Dawna? Call me" she said as she gave me a small wink and headed back to her car.
She is totally trying to set me up. Did she forget the fact that I was getting married?!
"Well, I would love to get to know you better. Are you hungry?" Justin asked kindly.
Truth was that I was starving. I hadn't eaten since the night I ran from home. "Yes" I said quietly.
"You're a shy one, aren't you?" Justin grinned.
  "I don't know"
"You can open up to me, I know you have a past. I can see it"
  "I guess"

We walked to a nearby restaurant. We decided to get pizza. Yes, I wanted to open up to Justin, but I just couldn't and I didn't know why.
"Listen Dawna. I really like you and I'd love to spend more time with you. But will you please tell me what's wrong? You haven't smiled since the moment we met"
Anger boiled inside me. What is he fishing for answers. "I barely know you, I don't need to tell you anything"
He shrugged. "Fair enough. How about we start with the basics. What's your favorite food?"
And for some unknown reason, I was honest with him. "Nutella Crepes"
"I love those. My favorite is any type of pasta. Does that sound girly?"
A smile tugs at the ends of my lips. I try to pull back, but I can't help myself. I let out a small laugh.
"And the girl smiles. I even got you to laugh"
I hide my face behind my sleeve. I grin, hoping he won't notice. He's so cute. When he smiles, dimples appear.
We sit and talk for a long time. We learn a lot about each other. Justin is a great athlete, but he also loves draw and create little sculptures out of clay. Not many people know this.
I told him about mother and how she hurt me. Yes, i didn't know Justin all that well, but he cared. Along with Serenity, he was one of the only people who cared.
"That's awful Dawna, no person should be put through such a thing"
"What can I say? I'm a girl in a cruel world. A cruel world where I am not excepted"
"I wish it was different. I wish it was like how it is on Earth, you know? Where everyone is equal" he says as he looks out of the window towards the now bright blue sky.
"I agree, but Earth has their problems with gender equality as well. Did you know that a province down there, woman are not allowed to show their hair? Sometimes they can't show any part of their face except their eyes. At least we can choose what we want to wear" i say as I look towards the sky as well.
There is a long pause before either of us says anything. I can feel Justin's eyes on me. "You truly are beautiful, Dawna. Did you know that?" Justin asks.
"I'm not beautiful, I'm so ugly and everyone knows it"
Justin stands up out of his chair and walks towards me. Now he is right in front of me, his face inches away from mine. "No. You are the most beautiful girl I've ever laid eyes on"
And then his lips press against mine. His kiss is sweet, perfect. This is what I've dreamed of. The kiss that could make you fly. The kiss that makes you forget the rest of the world.
The kiss that makes me forget about who I am, but makes me remember who I want to be.

Hey guys! I just wanted to say I'm so grateful for all of the views, it means the world to me! I was very excited about writing this chapter and I hope you liked it.
So for the next few chapters the point of view is going to be Dawna. I know you've only gotten a short glimpse of Marcus, but this story mainly focuses on Dawna, for she is the female with all of the troubles. Marcus may be in the next chapter. I haven't decided yet. Just remember that there will be more of Dawna than there will be Marcus!
Once again, thank you for all of the views. I Hope you're enjoying this story :) love you all!❤️
