Chapter Six:
Sarah’s POV:
Four weeks. I’ve known these crazies for four weeks. No, Harry and I are still not together. No, Harry has not shown any signs of interest. No, I am not undepressed at that fact. Yes, I fancy Harry. It took about a day after the coffee shop incident to realize that Harry is a pretty great guy and that I liked him. It was unfortunate, though. Undeniably so.
“Hey, could you pass the thingy?” I asked Jocelynn. She had a puzzled look on her face as she reached over toward the left to our supplies table, waving her hand over all of the objects until I nodded at the correct one.
“You’re so weird, babe.” She laughed passing the…stapler! It was the stapler.
“That’s what they tell me.” I flick my hair to the left to add emphasis. We sat in a comfortable silence, working away on our tissue paper centerpieces shaped like little semi-suns. They were unbelievably cute.
Claudia was throwing a summer party. It was this annual thing that she planned every year. She got famous by it and like, everybody came. She recruited all of us (the boys and their girls) to help with different points of the party. Jocelynn and I on decorations. Niall, Maddie, Harry, and Louis on food (probably NOT a good idea on her part). Liam and Cait were on invites (via email, text, Facebook event, or even tiny door flyer). Zayn worked the sound and music (DJ Malik, I mean, HELLO!) And Claudia just walked around with a clipboard in her hand “supervising.” Supervising was really just watching people work and yelling if they didn’t complete a task up to her standards; which, all of a sudden, were very high. We’d been doing this same exact thing all week and half of the last.
“HEY! JOCELYNN! I SAID “MAKE THE FRICKIN’ CENTERPIECES.” NOT “TALK WHILE OCCASIONALLY DECIDING TO MAKE THE FRICKIN’ CENTERPIECES! SERIOUSLY?! LOUIS! KEEP YOUR GIRLFRIEND FOCUSED I NEED THIS PARTY TOMORROW TO BE PERFECT!” Claudia screamed from right next to me.
“FIANCEE!” Louis yelled from the kitchen. A look of confusion fell across Claudia’s features until she understood the correction a few seconds after.
“LOUIS!” She screeched, causing Jocelynn and I to wince. We could hear Louis laughing from the kitchen. “Jocelynn. Focus.”
“Listen, Claudia. Yell at me one more time, I dare you. I. Friggin’. Dare you.” Jocelynn spat (not literally) in her face.
“Listen, J. You are working for me.”
“Working? This is slave labor. I ain’t getting paid. And listen, I am sorry that you are on your period and planning your famous annual Summer Celebration Bash, but you have no right to yell at your friends that are HELPING you with your party. Go to the kitchen. Eat something. Take some Midol. And then a nap. Go.”
Claud hilariously bursted into tears right at ‘period’. I wanted to laugh, but decided against it, hormones and all, you know. She slammed her sparkly pink clipboard on the table and leaned against the edge of the table with all of her weight. “It’s so hard.” She whined. Her period had been driving her hormones crazy. Needless to say, she’d been emotional all day. I just passed mine. Haha.
“I know, I know. Let’s go,” Jocelynn tried to hold in a laugh as she half guided-half carried the hormonal blonde to her bedroom upstairs.
“That girl. Drives me nuts.” Zayn rubbed his face with both hands and sighed as he walked into the “Craft Room”. “But I love her.”
I laughed, “It happens. How’s the music goin’?”
“Fine, so far. The playlist making is taking forever.” He sighed again.
