(Time Skip)

(Carol)- "Mutant to your left, Casey!" She warns.

(Casey)- "On it!" He says casually as if the super mutant isn't a threat to him.

I watch Carol and Casey take out a handful of super mutants like it was a sport.  Fawkes stood near to protect me, I look up to Fawkes giving him a stare suggesting we help them one more time. Casey and Carol took down their enemy and there was one more left for me. I ran towards the couple sliding in between them behind a cement barricade.

(Casey)- "Nice of you to show up. You takin' this mutant down or am I going to waste another bullet?"

(Y/n)- "Haha. I got this one." I say as I equip my railway rifle.

(Carol)- "Casey will cover you, I'll go check on the brahmin."

(Y/n)-"Fawkes is with them."

(Carol)-"That's so sweet. I love that gentle giant." She flees to go back to Fawkes. A few bullets go flying over our heads aiming towards Carol but they miss penetrating the dirt. Casey stood up firing towards the mutants, I lean over to the side of the barricade looking through the scope to get a good view of the enemies. I line up my shot seeing the mutants head in perfect position, I pull the trigger of the rifle feeling the recoil in my hand and kick back in my shoulder seeing the rail spike launch. The mutants head gets whiplash and falls towards the ground, another mutant pops out of cover and aims towards me. I fall back into cover waiting for it to waste a clip. Casey provides a distraction as I lean over the barricade again finding the mutant in my scope, I pull the trigger before I lose the opportunity to kill it. The spike lodges inside the mutants right eye causing him to scream in pain and step over the ledge making a big splat on the concrete.

I stood up resting the railway rifle on my shoulder posing as if I was getting my picture taken, I felt like a hero.

(Casey)- "Your turning into a mini me." He stands up stretching out his back.

(Y/n)- "You taught me well."

(Casey)- "Don't get cocky now. Still don't look good as me though. Come on, let's go check on Carol." I follow him walking like a couple of badass people who took down a whole army of super mutants. It may have only been a few but lets just say an army just so we have more of a reputation.

We find Fawkes and Carol with the brahmin petting it to calm their nerves. Casey and I holster our weapons simultaneously and he gives me a hard pat on my shoulder before checking up on the animal. Casey pets the brahmins heads and coos them like she did to her cat, peaches.

I miss that little guy.

We continue moving ahead further into the city of Boston, I can finally say I almost traveled through the entire U.S. Damn-- I just wish I was smart enough to collect some kind of souvenir along the way.

We walk turning right to a place that looks pretty well protected, how could this spot not be taken over by the super mutants?

I look at the neon sign above with a little spark flickering, Goodneighbor.

This is the place?

It...

Looks...

Welcoming.

Judging by the outside I'm hoping the inside doesn't look alike.

(Casey)-"Here we are." He whispers with a smile as he opens and holds the front door. Carol and Fawkes helps guide the Brahmin inside and I walk in last.

A god awful stench invaded my nose-- I follow my sense of smell and what I saw at the end trail was a body near the entrance. Two men with rifles were guarding the body while another with thick dirty gloves and a mask attempt to dispose of the body.

(Casey)- "Don't worry about that kid, it happens all the time here. Just don't piss off the mayor." He whispers at the last bit.

(Y/n)- "Why? Is the mayor an asshat?" Casey  either heard me and doesn't want to answer or he didn't hear me at all. He walks over to Daisy's Discounts along with Carol and the Brahmin.

A ghoul stands behind the counter with with a mean mugging expression. It changes in the matter of three seconds once she sees Carol and Casey.

(Ghoul)- "Carol!? Casey!? Is that you?" Her raspy voice raises as she's excited to see some old friends.

I look back at the storefront name, Daisy's Discounts.

This must be Daisy.

She walks around the counter and opens her arms wide to give Carol the biggest hug, she side hugs Casey still glad to see him too.

They talk amongst themselves leaving me and Fawkes out in the open. I look up at him and he shrugs. I look back at the adults hearing Daisy and Carol gossip, Casey cuts in and points an index finger towards Fawkes and I.

(Daisy)-"Who's this?"

(Carol)- "This is (Y/n) and Fawkes, found them back in D.C. Brought them here to start their lives over."

(Daisy)- "Just like everyone else. Welcome to the Commonwealth. This place welcomes all, the town of Goodneighbor."

(Y/n)- "Thanks for the welcome."

(Fawkes)- "Nice to meet you."

(Daisy)- "Likewise."

Without a second to react, Casey turns to me and immediately wraps his arms around me, so hard that I couldn't breathe.

(Casey)- "Our adventure ends here, kid. Oh! I'm going to miss you! I've taught you well and I know you're going to kick ass out there in the real world."

(Y/n)- "C--Casey--you-- you're suffocating m-e" I managed to speak.

(Carol)-"Let the poor girl go. I want a hug next." He does so with a moment of hesitation. My lungs finally fill with air. Carol steps over and goes for a warm gentle hug, I wrap my arms around her tight.

She was almost like a mother to me, a grandmother, maybe.

Casey says his goodbye to Fawkes giving him a pat on his arm.

(Y/n)- "I'm really gonna miss you guys. You both taught me so much." I say as Carol kisses the top of my head.

(Carol)- "We'll miss you too, sweetheart. You'll do great on your own." She releases hold and I turn to face Casey.

(Casey)- "Here. I saved these for you. Don't spend it on hookers and booze." He hands me a fat sack of caps.

(Y/n)- "Aww, Casey, you shouldn't have." He really shouldn't, tagging along with them was rewarding enough.

Casey)- "There's about two thousand caps in that. If you're gonna spend it on hookers make sure they're at least the good kind." He points a stern finger. Im going to miss his humor.

(Y/n)- "Got it. I won't let you down."

(Carol)- "We best get going if we're gonna make the landmark before it gets dark. We got what we came for, time to head out."

(Casey)- "Take care of her, Fawkes. Don't let this one get into trouble." He says on his way towards the exit.

(Fawkes)- "Take care, my friends." We say our second final goodbyes.

Carol and Casey leave Goodneighbor leaving Fawkes and I on our own.
