DAKOTA POV;
Classical music floods the room as I slowly walk into Jamie's house, feeling a bit like an intruder. I knocked on the door twice, but no one said anything, they must not be able to hear me over the music. I awkwardly shuffle into the house, quietly shutting the door behind myself, and look around, overwhelmed by the mystery of it all. The classical music playing throughout the house doesn't sound like a CD. Someone must be playing it live on an actual piano. I don't recognize the piece, although I'm not particularly familiar with classical music, so I suppose it could be something popular. Whatever it is, it sounds lovely. "Dakota!" Jamie's voice booms through the house as he runs over to me and greets me with a hug. He looks so different than how he usually looks on set, more relaxed maybe? He's dressed in a plain maroon dress shirt and dark pants. The maroon color really suits him, and the way he's got the top few buttons undone has me reeling. I have to get it together. I can't be acting all hot for Jamie when I meet his wife. She's probably already a little worried about me being too close for comfort with her husband just based on the movies we're filming together. I can't let her think that's right, because it's far from it. I'm no homewrecker. I understand boundaries when they're presented to me. "Come on in." He invites me inside, gesturing for me to follow further into the house. I do as I'm told and follow him, my eyes sweeping the room trying to take everything in. His house is beautifully designed and huge! So warm and inviting too, it suits him well.
Suddenly the classical music cuts off and I hear the sound of heels clicking on the wooden floor, coming my way. Jamie turns to me and smiles, then she appears, taking my breath away. Jamie's wife, Amelia, is just as stunning as he is, possibly even more so. I'm mesmerized by her flawless face as she approaches me, smiling welcomingly. "You must be Dakota. Welcome to our home!" Amelia greets me, immediately pulling me in for a hug even though we've only just met. "Oh! Hi." I hug her back, wrapping my arms around her small frame and inhaling the heavenly scent of her long, darkly colored hair. She's smaller than me, at least an inch and a half shorter, and she fits perfectly in my arms. I gasp, pulling her in closer for a moment. She smells amazing. Like honey and lilac, wholesome and sweet. Jamie smells the same way. It must be their detergent. "I'm sorry. This is so weird but you smell amazing." I take one last sniff, then release her. Way to make things even more awkward than they already were, Dakota! "Oh, it's fine. You're not weird at all." She brushes it off, thankfully not being weirded out by my strange compliment. "Uh...was the song that was playing earlier... was that you?" I ask Amelia, my eyes shifting between her and Jamie curiously. "Yes, It's one of my own songs actually." She states. "Oh, well it's lovely. Jamie told me you were a musician but he didn't say what instrument you played." I look at her, hoping she'll keep talking. I love the sound of her soft voice. "I play lots of instruments actually, but Piano is my favorite. Here, come look." She takes my hand and leads me into the living room where a beautiful grand piano sits. I gasp. It's gorgeous, black with little designs etched into the wood. "This is beautifully made." As I walk by the piano I gently stroke it with my fingertips. Then I remember something, They have a daughter. "Where's Dulcie?" I turn to both Jamie and Amelia, not knowing which to ask. "She's in the dining room in her swing, probably half asleep." Jamie answers, sharing a laugh with Amelia. All one-month old babies are usually half-asleep most of the time. It's what they do. "Would you like to come see her?" Jamie suggests. "Sure." Amelia and I walk with him into the dining room and the smell of chicken risotto fills my nose. Sure enough, the table is set with three plates of it, for each of us. I wonder who cooked it. "Here's Dulcie. Our little angel." Amelia holds Dulcie out to me and I think I feel my heart stop. She's the most gorgeous little baby I've ever laid eyes on. "Hi, Dulcie!" I wiggle my finger at her in greeting and I think I see her crack a smile. "She's gorgeous. She must take after her mother in that way." I smile in Amelia's direction, then turn back to Dulcie. "Where did she get the blonde hair from?" I ask, observing the little tufts of blonde hair sprouting out of her head. "My mother has blonde hair." Amelia says and I nod along, smiling. "How about if we let Dulcie get back to her resting so we can eat." Jamie suggests. "Good idea. Babies need lots of resting. Especially pretty ones like this." I smile at Dulcie as Jamie holds her in his arms. He takes her back to her swing, then we all move to the table and sit down.
Over dinner, I do my best to compliment Amelia at every opportunity, becoming more and more enchanted by her as time goes on. I can easily see why Jamie fell in love with her. She's sensational in every way. I get to know her a lot in such short time, partly through Jamie and partly through herself. In fact, I get to know a lot about both Jamie and Amelia. Turns out they have a lot of things in common, more than most couples I know. It doesn't surprise me that they married almost immediately upon meeting each other. They're nearly perfect for each other. "You know Dakota, Jamie isn't just a pretty face and a brilliant actor he also has a beautiful voice and a phenomenal sense of music." I raise my eyebrows at Amelia's compliment of Jamie. He's never once mentioned being a singer. "Did Jamie not tell you? He's not only an amazing guitar player, He's a magnificent singer too." Somehow it doesn't surprise me that Jamie has magical fingers and a beautiful singing voice. I mean he really is a man of all traits. "Oh, come on." Jamie rolls his eyes at his wife's compliment. "We both know you're the musical genius in this household." I giggle at Jamie's doubtful expression at his wife's compliment. This seems to be turning into some kind of full on compliment war."Okay, but you're the best with Dulcie." She insists, then turns to look at me. "I swear she stops crying the instant this man holds her." Amelia states, gently touching Jamie's arm. "That doesn't surprise me one bit." I smile at Jamie, and he looks down at the table trying not to smile. "Millie, we both know we could go on like this all day, but I'm sure Dakota's ready to leave. It's quite late." Jamie suggests, standing up from the table. "Dakota." I stand from my seat too, following his lead. "Oh, yes, actually I should be going. I've got a phone call scheduled with Jordan in a half hour and I don't wanna miss that." Jamie smirks at me and I giggle. "I did have a wonderful time though, really, and the food was just amazing. Thank you so much, both of you, for having me." I say, as we walk towards the door together. "It's our pleasure." They say in unison. smiling sweetly at me. When we reach the door I feel an ache in my chest. I didn't think I'd feel this way, but I don't want to leave Amelia just as much as I hate to leave Jamie. I adore them both so much. Before I leave I make sure to hug them both, promising to come back as soon as possible to visit. As I leave I feel a sense of calm washing over me. I know Amelia and I are going to become great friends.
