DAKOTA POV;
The smell of fresh baked cookies fills the house as I climb out of the shower at my best friend Blake's house. The pumpkin cookies my other best friend Emily is baking for our Halloween party tonight smell delicious and I know as soon as I get out there to help her ice them I'll be able to sneak one before setting them out for the guests. I towel dry off and dress in some jeans and a black sweater. I decided to get ready over here since I already figured I'd be staying the night and I wanted to help setup for the party tonight. I clip my still wet hair back with a black clasp and head into the kitchen to ice the cookies and get the refreshments ready.
Blake grills me on my most recent relationships, nearly forcing all the answers out of me as we set out the shots for the drinking game we'll be playing when the others get here. I tell him about Matt, a guy i've been seeing on and off for a while. We don't see each other very often since we're both busy, him in particular with his band, but when we do things go pretty great. I admit most of relationship is based on sleeping with each other whenever we have time, but we've had some romantic moments as well. Emily seems to like him, which is a plus because usually she hates who I date. I'm not even sure I could put Matthew in the same category as the others though seeing as we haven't really had any sort of real solid relationship. It's always been very non-committal. "Has there been anyone else besides your rockstar?" Blake asks. I shrug, my cheeks heating up with blush. "So there has then." I contemplate lying, but i know he'll catch onto me. "Sort of. We weren't exactly together though either." I'm not really sure what we were? Is it okay to call someone just a friend after you've slept with them? "Oh, really? What's this ones name?" Guests are starting to arrive as it gets darker outside, so we quicken our pace in preparing the drinks. "I'd like to not name her for privacy reasons, but she's really something." I smile, thinking back on that night. That was the happiest I've been in a long time. "She's? You finally hooked up with a girl?" He exclaims, slapping my shoulder playfully. "Yeah, I guess I did." I didn't think of it as a first at the time, but now that I think of it I realize it was. "Is she here tonight?" He questions, lowering his voice. "No!" i'd never invite her here and risk them finding out, my friends would bombard her with so many questions she'd probably run for the hills.
I escape the questioning about my sex life from Blake just in time and I rush off to the bathroom to get in costume. I style my hair straight and down, then I grab the blow dryer off the counter and I'm ready. "Dakota where the hell is your costume? You're killing the Halloween vibes!" Emily scolds me, her cat costume is the most basic thing I've ever seen, yet I'm the one killing Halloween? "I'm wearing it. I'm blow job! Get it?" I ask holding my blow dryer up and gesturing to the fake glasses I've put on. "Oh my god, Dakota!" She erupts into laughter, noticing my outfit that matches Steve Jobs perfectly and the blow dryer in my hand. "You're such a dork!" she exclaims. "Blake come look at Dakota's costume! She's killing Halloween in the worst way possible!" Emily yells, summoning Blake. "Blow Job! Nice!" See! He gets it! I give Emily an annoyed look and she rolls her eyes. "It's still not festive enough. Here put this on so you don't look like such a dork." Blake helps me into a blue bob wig and then I'm ready to party.
I throw back my seventh shot in the last thirty minutes and slam my glass down on the table. "That's It, Dakota You're out!" I grin to myself as I step away from the table triumphantly. I won the drinking game easily, it wasn't even a close tie. One of the girls on Blakes side of the table stands up after me and I notice her following as I walk towards the bathroom. "Hey, congratulations on winning." She congratulates me. "Thanks. Gosh you're pretty who are you?" I stutter slightly, still nervous even though I'm so drunk my words are slurring together. "A friend of blake's. My name's Samantha." She introduces herself, one hand fiddling with her honey colored hair. Her dark roots tell me that it's been dyed, but it still looks natural on her. "Nice." I gesture to her wonder woman costume, wondering how exactly she isn't freezing in the tiny red, blue, and gold material. She giggles and steps closer to me. "Your costume is nice too." She compliments, reaching a hand out to touch my blue wig. Then suddenly her lips are on mine, im not even sure how it happened, but my body clashes with the hallway wall and my fingers wrap themselves in her hair. We both pull away from the kiss and linger for a few moments, our faces inches from each other. She has freckles spotting her cheeks and her lips are the most rosy shade of pink. Someone stumbles into the hallway, breaking up our moment together and we both giggle.Later in the night, I wander off to call Jamie, but I'm filled with disappointment when i get no answer. I call him again and again, too drunk to realize that I'm probably calling way too much. I eventually stop calling and head back to the party. I don't know how much time passes, but suddenly my phone starts to vibrate in my pocket. It's Jamie. I press the answer button, but it's too loud to hear anything until I get back to my hiding place from earlier. "Heyyyy Jamie!" He laughs on the other end. "Hey, Dakota. Did you need something?" Why would I need something, I wonder? "No, I'm having a great time." He laughs again. I love the sound. "Dakota, you called me seven times." I did? I don't remember that at all. "I'm so sorry! Please forgive me Jamie!" I feel so guilty for bothering him. Someone should seriously take my phone away when they know i'm getting shit-faced. "I forgive you. I'm glad you're having a good Halloween." Oh, right, it's Halloween. I wonder what dulcie dressed as. "Hey, did Dulcie dress up tonight?" I ask. She' one now,isnt she? She's grown up so much since I last saw her. Tears spring to my eyes at the realization. It's been so long since Ive seen her or Jamie or even amelia. "Yeah, she did, but it's late right now so maybe we should discuss this tomorrow." He suggests. "Oh, yeah. Okay." I'm disappointed that our conversation is ending. "Goodbye, Dakota. Try to be safe tonight." Safe? I can do that. "Send pictures!" I remind him, my thoughts returning to Dulcie.
"Alright. Goodbye, Dakota." He hangs up and I return to my party, knowing this will probably be my last chance to party like this util after I finish filming my new project over the summer.Authors Note; there's only two chapters left in this story and I'm hoping to update them both tomorrow for you guys.
