MUTATION - Chapter 1

Rick rounded up his new family as they dragged Hershel, the only medic in the group, to a safe spot which happened to be the prison canteen.

"Maggie! Give me your belt so I can bind his leg!" Rick shouted to Maggie.

Maggie complied and soon enough, Rick was chopping off Hershel's bitten leg. The aged man soon passed out from the pain.

As Rick finished on Hershel's leg, he sat back on his knees and took a deep breath, his adrenaline rush was starting to wear out. The surrounding group members started to relax and were about to start making a plan back to the cell block, when Daryl - the hunter and tracker for the group- quickly drew his crossbow and aimed it at a small group of people, of which only two of them didn't have bandages around their eyes, the others had handcuffs.

Noticing Daryl's sharp movement, everyone glanced up and followed his gaze. There eyes landed on four individuals, two with blindfolds, one with bound legs and the last one with metal cups covering his entire fist.

One boy had deep blue skin with three fingers and three toes. He also had a long blue tail with a pointed end. All over his face was strange scars most hidden by the stark white blindfold. His tail flicked rhythmically as he realised there were more people around him.

The other blindfolded boy seemed to be a stark contrast to the first boy. He was a pale white with blue hair, he seemed like a normal teenage boy, usual height, weight and haircut.

A small but older looking man had a wire wrapping his legs, the wire looked tight and uncomfortable. He had silver hair and slight wrinkles dragging his cheeks down. His eyes flitted around the new people quickly as if to find an escape route, or spit the weakest person in the room.

The last person had long sideburns and had greying hair. He looked fierce and wild, with metal cups holding his hands together. He seemed to be more protective of the other three: standing in front of them as if to guard them from judgement.

Rick quickly assessed the situation and decided the best course of action was to take the old prisoners and negotiate a deal. But he had to deal with Hershel first.

"Glenn!" He spoke up, " Glenn, take Maggie and bring the prisoners to the cell block, everyone else help me move Hershel."

Soon enough Hershel was back into Cellblock C and everyone had gathered to watch the leader, Rick, talk to the new people.

"Zhat's my cell block..." the deep blue person trailed with a strong German accent, hopefully but confused, after having his blindfold removed he was overjoyed, being blind for months didn't help his mental state.

"It's ours now!" The scruffy man names Daryl said protectively and the blue person stepped back quickly in submission.

"Hey, hey, hey, let's tone it down a bit-" the grey haired man was interrupted by Rick himself.

"Don't speak to us like that, you're lucky we didn't kill you!"

"Kill us?" The pale boy who refused to remove his blindfold asked cautiously whilst facing the wrong way. The older man, with his hands now free, turned him to face the rest of the group, "thanks," he whispered.

"Well yeah, you're in our new home!" Carl, Rick's son, yelled out, causing a tall brunette to usher him to be quiet.

"Excuze me? Zhis iz ours. Ve are criminals..." the blue one trailed, scanning the room several times over, his blue tail flicking rhythmically to the tone of his voice.

"Look, let us introduce ourselves," the wild and older man suggested, to which, Rick agreed. "I, am Logan."

The blue boy stepped forward, "I am Kurt."

The aged boy stepped forward, "Peter."

And the still blindfolded boy - who had managed to turn and look the wrong way- spoke up, "Scott."

Rick shuffled his weight from foot to foot before speaking up, "I am Rick, and this," he waved to Daryl who was still wielding his crossbow with a stern gaze. "-this is Daryl. You don't need to know everyone else's names, considering you won't be alive long enough to remember them."
