CHAPTER 5

I couldn’t move I wanted to so bad. I wanted to grab Rebeccas arm and run. I wanted to leave California, but I just stood there with my mouth open, tears in my eyes. "Shannon?" he said again. I looked at Danny who was staring at him like "the fuck?" Danny grabbed his shoe and threw it at Lawrence "Law dance now" Lawrence finished his dancing. Then Danny announced "ladies and gentleman now it’s your turn" everyone went in separate ways. Rebecca grabbed on my arm. "Momma can I go?" "Sure baby go" she went in Chads group. He smiled at her. I could tell he thought she was the cutest thing on earth. She giggled and danced. He was impressed. I could tell. Danny laughed at her. I was laughing and watching her dance when I felt someone tap on me. I swallowed and turned it was Lawrence.

"Hey" "oh hey" "Um how have you been?" "Uh good... you?" "Good, good, so I guess you heard about my new dance team" "uh well I didn’t know you were in it actually" "really? How did you find us out then?" "Danny; I had car trouble and Rebecca loves to dance so we came" "Rebecca?" "My little girl" "ohm... she pretty" "thanks and um yeah im... im married" "oh oh good; im happy for you" it was so awkward talking to him. "thanks"

"Yeah well i just got out of a relationship actually" "oh im sorry" "nah don’t worry about it i guess we just weren’t meant to be" "yeah you will find someone" i sighed. "What made you come to California?" I turned to Rebecca her and chad was dancing crazy. i laughed "huh?" he cleared his throat "i said what made you come to California?" "oh um i had a promotion for my detective job" "oh wow that’s great" "yeah, what about you what you been up too?" "Nothing really ever since i left Arkansas i went to all kinds of dance teams and stuff, you know" I started to have flash backs of us kissing and holding hands and walking around the beach i couldn’t take it anymore. "Rebecca lets go" He grabbed on my arm "wait did i say something wrong?"

"Uh i just got to go. REBECCA!" she cried "NO im having fun!" "Rebecca Ann if you don’t get your ass here this insists" she cried and told chad bye he waved to her. I grabbed her hand and we left. Lawrence ran out of the building "Shannon please wait, i lost u once i don’t want to lose you again" i stopped and kept walking.

I put Rebecca in her seat and closed the door. "SHANNON" he screamed i turned around fast "What?!" "i said" "i heard what u said law or Lawrence" "call me Lawrence please" he sounded like he was crying. "Shannon listen to me I love u I always have, I can’t stop thinking about you" "sorry Lawrence but you left not me I wanted a family and u didn’t so u choose it okay u have what you wanted" I started to cry "I got to go law" I got into the car and drove away.

He falls to the ground crying. When he walked back in Danny and the guys went up to him. Dumbo asked "who was that?" chad confused "yeah" he whipped his face and said "my old best friend, girlfriend, and lover don’t worry about me guy’s im okay. Danny can I go back home?" "Law what about your fans?" "Please!" Danny jumped "sorry Danny just please let me go" Danny nodded "okay, yeah you can go" Law drove back home crying. When he got home he grabbed an old box of memories he opened it and pulled out an old letter he had written to Shannon but never sent it.

it said "hey Shannon, California is great here, I’ve made a lot of friends, they love the way i dance, they say im a natural, ha-ha anyway look i just wanted to say that i miss you so much, i hope you haven’t forgot about me. you know i still think about you a lot, your always in my dreams, i wish somehow i can go back in time and kiss you one last time, i was stupid for arguing with you, i should of hugged you and kissed you a thousand times i regret it. i really do. i hope you the best i really do. You don’t deserve me. Im not the one for you, I love you Shannon with all my heart you will always be the love of my life- love Lawrence bravo Devera" he read it then folded it. He put it back in his box and cried some more. He couldn’t stop thinking about her.

I couldn’t drive straight because i had tears in my eyes and Rebecca was asking me all kinds of questions. "Momma who was that?" "Momma why are you crying?" "Momma whats going on?" when we got home Bryson was on the sofa watching a movie. Rebecca went into the house saying "Mommas crying she won’t tell me why" Bryson put her down and came outside "Shannon whats wrong?" "Nothing okay!" "Shannon"
