Giovanni, disguised as a top-level scientist, walked through the corridor-like area of the lab. There were scientists scurrying about, trying to perfect their research projects. However, Giovanni wasn't interested in anything they were creating. What he was here for was through the doors at the end of the hallway.

As he got to the door, he saw the last obstacle that stood between him and his objective: the biometric security lock. As he put his eye up to the retinal scanner, it scanned his eye, then dinged and turned green.

Giovanni smirked. He was in.

As he opened the door, he was almost horrified by what he saw. There were hundreds of glass tanks filled with green embryonic fluid. In each container of fluid, there was a child with wires connecting each child to machines that were monitoring their brainwaves and vital signs.

As he walked up to the control panel closest to him, he noticed that there was an acronym on the screen:

"'Artificially Simulated Human'," Giovanni scoffed as he read it, "what a terrible name."

Giovanni pressed the button labeled "release" on the control panel. As soon as he did, the embryonic fluid started to drain from the tank. Left behind was a fully-developed infant. Giovanni opened the tank and took the infant out, detaching the wires from it as he did.

"Hey!" A young woman's voice suddenly shouted from behind Giovanni, "What do you think you're doing? You can't be in here!"

Still holding the infant, Giovanni turned around. "You can't take him with you!"

"Watch me." Giovanni said.

"Walk through those doors," the young woman said, "and security will be on you before you can even blink."

"What's your name?"

"Delia Ketchum."

"Well then, Delia," pulling out a gun and pointing it at the young woman, "I guess I'll have to get an insurance policy in place."

"Even if you do kill me," Delia said, "another scientist will just pick up right where I left off."

"What?" Giovanni said, acting shocked with a false look of hurt on his face, "who said anything about killing you?"

Giovanni turned around and started to shoot the control panels, destroying them beyond use.

"What are you doing?!" Delia shouted.

"Well," Giovanni said, "I never said anything about not killing off those other clones."

"What have you done?" Delia said slumping to her knees in shock. "All those years of research...gone!"

"Maybe," Giovanni said, "but I'm guessing you don't know what they would have been used for when they were fully grown."

"What are you talking about?" Delia asked.

"These clones had the DNA of mew, the ancestor of all Pokémon in this world." Giovanni explained, "once they were fully developed and grown-up, they would have been used as genetically-enhanced supersoldiers."

"What?!" Delia said.

"Either believe me or don't, it doesn't matter to me." Giovanni said, jumping up to a nearby window to the outside, "But I'm out of here."

As Giovanni was about to jump out the window, he said, "but if you do decide to believe me, you can find me in Viridian City." With that, he jumped out the window and into the night.
