That night, Ash woke up, got out of bed and, after peering out his bedroom door and into the dark, unlit hallway outside his room to make sure no one was still awake, stealthily made his way downstairs and towards the front door. After silently opening it, he walked outside, closing the door behind him as quietly as possible.

However, as the door's locking mechanism slid into place, it made a clicking noise that echoed through the silent night air. Ash stood still nervously, not even breathing. Once he was certain no one had heard the noise he walked down the gravel path as quietly as he could.

As soon he was far enough away from his house that he could be sure he was out of earshot, Ash called out in a hushed voice. "Hello?" He called quietly, "Are you there?"

"Yes, I'm here." said a silhouetted figure as they stepped out of the shadows. "You're sure you weren't followed?"

"I'm pretty sure." Ash said.

"Good." Lysander said. "Now, in order to make finding the anchor of this false reality easier, you'll need to regain your memories leading up to the point you became trapped in here."

"How exactly do I do that?" Ash asked.

"Focus, Ash." Lysander said, "think back. What's the last thing you remember happening before you found yourself trapped in this reality?"

"I... I don't know..." Ash said.

"Think hard, Ash." Lysander said, "otherwise you'll never be able to get back to your world."

"I... I can't remember anything." Ash said, "I'm sorry."

"Well I didn't want to have to do this so soon," Lysander said, grabbing Ash's head with one hand on each side, "but it doesn't look like we have any choice at this point."

"Wait!" Ash shouted in a hushed voice, "What are you doing?"

"Since I'm a manifestation of the part of your subconscious that knows this isn't real, I also am able to help you regain your memories as a last resort." Lysander said, "Now stay still..."

"Whoa!" Ash said, "What a rush that was!"

"Yes," Lysander said, "I would imagine so."

"So then," Ash said, "what now?"

"I have a feeling you already know the answer." Lysander replied.

"Yeah," Ash said, "and I know exactly how to get out of here."
