MONDAY MORNING - 6:54 A.M.
Driving the ball down the newly shined basketball court, Mo went to shoot at the basket while the opposing team's defense was gunning for him. He wasn't worried about such a thing though...he had the ball in control.
Mo gracefully faked out a crossover on a teammate, and in turn, shot the ball straight into the basket.
Swoosh!
"All net baby."
Mo went and ran down to the other end of the court where the remaining players were sprawled about, waiting for the next play.
The Howard Bison were in the middle of an intense shirts versus skins practice for their upcoming scrimmage against the Medgar Evans Cougars. Though it was just an exhibition game, the team wasn't slacking in their efforts at all, especially starting point guard Mo.
Basketball was his baby and he treated it as such. Nobody he knew played the game with as much passion as him. To the way he fluidly passed the ball, to his handles, Mo just had that natural nitch for the sport.
To Morgan, he was the best there was at Howard University; maybe the best there was in the whole college basketball league.
Not only did his love for basketball drive his zeal, but he was also extremely grateful for it since it was his savior from a road many of his peers have taken.
Instead of being the stereotypical 'black boy from the hood', he channeled all that energy towards something that could potentially change his life for the better.
The intensity of the screeching sneakers on the gym floor caused by the multiple players was music to Mo's ears.
With the peaceful tune serenading his ears, his heartbeat filled nothing, but impeding exhilaration as Mo focused on his main goal: the basket.
The team always knew it was a 50/50 chance when handing the ball to Mo. Either he was going to be a team player or be a stingy fucker about the ball.
