*Hailey's POV*
•Sunday May 28th--the day she got the email--this occurred before the last two chapters i just forgot to write it then.•

"Dad! Dad! OH MY GOD, LOOK!" I shouted as i sprinted down my spiral staircase and into the kitchen where my dad began making my family dinner.

In my house, it was just me, my dad, my younger sister Lily, and my older brother Connor. My mom was my best friend, up until i was 9 years old. That's when she died from breast cancer. Of course she still is my best friend and always will be, but technically she can't be here physically so she cannot be my physical best friend, if that makes sense. My mother was an amazing human. She took her dream career as a nurse, and was extremely great at her job. She was named employee of the year many times and was loved by everyone in town. When she turned 42, she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and almost died on the spot, but she's much stronger than that. She survived for two more years before passing away in 2009.

My dad is basically my hero, and has always been there for me along with my brother Connor. But continuing with my dad, he is 46 years old and a very successful businessman. Once my mom died, who was the love of his life (and high school sweetheart), he became depressed, which led him in believing that alcohol was the only solution. But that didn't stop him from trying to take great care of me and my siblings. He then realized his issue, and took it upon himself to go to rehab while my Uncle Mike and Aunt Phoebe watched us. A year and a half later, he was clean and ready to come back home. I couldn't be prouder of his quick recovery and how amazing of a person he is today, regardless of his past mistakes or choices. Again, he will always be the person i look up to and go to when i'm down.

Connor is extremely flirtatious and every time one of my friends from school comes around, he flirts with them. He's a freshman in college, but is always home. The college he applied to (and got in to-shocking i know-) is just 30 minutes away from our house. So instead of moving closer or on their campus, he decided to stay with us and help dad. Beside the fact that he's always trying to hit on my friends, he's the best brother i could ever ask for. When my mom died, he was always a shoulder to lean on, as well as when dad went to rehab. Even though he can be a pain in the ass, he's one of my favorite people and has the best sense of humor you'll ever know.

Lily is my sunshine. She was born in 2007, seven years after me, and the year my mom was diagnosed with cancer. She was only two years old when our mom died, therefore, Lily barely knew her own mother. But that doesn't bother her today, and it never did. Even if it did affect her today, she refuses to show it. She is always smiling and jumping around being the happy, giddy person she is. She's only 10 years old (4th grade...goals), but she's already more beautiful than me, which makes me envy her. She's the only other girl in the house besides me and i couldn't be happier that my parents decided to have her, even in their 40's. Lily is literally one of the best things that has ever happened to me, and we always tell each other secrets and gossip about Connor behind his back (along with other annoying and/or cute boys at our schools.)

As for me, i'm 17 years old, going on 18 in 2 months. My birthday is July 16th and i'm a senior in high school. My hobbies are soccer (rarely, but still considered a hobby!!), singing (rarely, but still considered a hobby!!), running, hanging out with my bff/friends, and other usual, normal teenager shit ;) my best friends are Corrine, Sasha, Ryan, my family, and my dog Luke. My favorite color is pink and my favorite body part (on anyone) is hands. I don't really have a reason, i just think, like, they can literally do anything. I don't know you can say i'm weird, but i think they're cool.

Anyway, back to reality..

Connor, Lily, and my father were all in the kitchen. My dad was standing at the stove, boiling some water to make spaghetti, i'm assuming. Tuesday nights are spaghetti nights in my house. Lily was sitting on the counter in the middle of the room while Connor stood in front of her, facing her. Lily was placing Chips Ahoy cookies on Connor's forehead whilst he tried to (without his hands), bring the cookie to his mouth and eat it. He kept dropping it, but he wouldn't give up. I ignored the two of them and ran up to dad who was wearing a "Kiss the Cook" apron.
