Chapter 2: The Hunter and the Shinigami
RAAM pulled the bowstring back, he had the perfect shot, the enemy never even knew that he had been trailing him for 15 minutes, he was about to let the arrow fly when there was a series of loud bangs, followed by his target stumbling to the ground. He looked to where the sound seemed to come from but couldn't see anything.
"Rias, is anyone over there?" He asked his partner.
"There is someone over there, actually three people, they have strong souls, be careful."
"Got it."
As he slowly climbed down from his perch on the rooftop he was starting to be able to see the person who incapacitated his prey. Whoever this guy was, he was either important, rich or both. As he got closer he thought it might be a good idea to look somewhat presentable. He dusted off his trench coat and straightened his dew rag.
Then the guy showed himself, no sign if the other two that Rias detected, but when he saw RAAM he raised his twin pistols.
"Who are you?"
"I could ask you the same thing. But you did ask first so, I am RAAM Gilliares, bow meister 1st class."
"I am Death the Kid, my friends call me Kidd."
"Cool, can I ask you a question?"
"Sure, if you straighten the rag on your head 11 degrees to the left."
RAAM did as he requested,
"So why did you take away my kill?"
"I was just on a walk and I saw it so I shot it down."
"Heh, yeah right! The son of Shinigami-sama doesn't just happen upon a demon, he hunts them."
Kidd looked straight into RAAM's eyes and gave him the "Shut the hell up" look.
"If you must know, I heard that a demon had infested the city and decided to eliminate it my self."
"Did it ever occur to you that someone else might have taken the mission?"
"The mission boards didn't say someone had taken the mission."
With that, RAAM got a little angry, he had accepted the mission two days ago, "Are you sure?"
"Yes I'm sure, I even asked Killik if he knew if anyone was taking the mission."
"Did you check the back of the paper?"
Kidd looked like he was about to say something smart but instead said, "No..."
"Eh, it's alright. So, can I take the soul?"
"Sure if I collect that soul my collection would be uneven if I collected that so-" Kidd was cut off as a huge force knocked him into a wall.
RAAM turned and aimed his bow in he direction of where the force came from and saw the monster, it had to be at least 15 feet tall and it looked human from the knees up, but the face and feet were reptilian in nature.
"Udug the Behemoth," the monster turned towards RAAM, "It's time for you to pay for your crimes, what's the punishment Rias?"
Rias' voice rang from the bow in RAAM's hands, "The punishment is death and the collection of your soul."
"Thanks Rias. Now," RAAM pulled the bowstring back to his cheek, "Time to execute the punishment."
