How many years has it been?

My heart thuds even harder at the thought of having a home where I could lay in my bed isolated from the cruelty of this world, but nothing could change my fate...the fate that had lead me here to this city. I walk through the streets in search of a place to sleep...a dumpster or a "comfy" bench to rest my aching feet.

For two long painful days I walked through the forest to come here...to this city I didn't know about or care for...I don't know why fate brought me here, but I knew it was no good thing. Fate had dragged me here to punish me I knew that well now...Two days ago I was shot at by angered  gang leader who almost killed me.

Now I was here...ready to die.

What would it be today fate? There's a beach nearby...maybe I'll fall in and die and this nightmare would be over. I sigh as I sit on a bench and open my bag to find something to sooth my growling stomach before I continued my journey through this city miserably homesick as I passed.

I chew slowly on my last peanut butter protein bar as I walk through the streets receiving odd glances from passerby and teens sitting on a bench across the street.

Every old glare made me feel like my legs were dying under me...I can't stay here...As I turn around swiftly and bolt for the forest I had left only a few minutes behind...I'd realized that the forest was my home now.

I sigh in relief as I break through the leaves into the forest...I was home...somewhere I belong.

Then I realized I'd angered fate.

A cut to the leg could not explain this injury , but why was there a bear trap here? Bears don't come near the sea...or was intended to catch a much smaller pray. The teeth of the bear trap dig's deep into my ankle as I attempt to pull the trap off my leg, but that was no use...I scream in pain as I search my bag for something...something to cut my leg off and relieve me of this pain.

I find my machete knife....it was slightly damaged from chopping at wood for a fire to keep me warm at night, sharp enough to cut my wounded leg.

I breath as I unbuckle my belt and pull it off tightening it around my thigh....I breath and grit my teeth as begin to cut into my leg.
