【 6 months later 】

it's somin's birthday today. yet the girl felt so empty as if she was missing something. deep down, somin knew what was missing, but she refused to admit it to herself.

"has she contacted you?" matthew probed. somin shook her head sadly. she left messages, calls for her best friend but it seemed like nothing reached her.

it has been 6 months.
6 months since jiwoo disappeared without a word.
the worst part of it all, somin couldn't understand why.

the last time she saw jiwoo, jiwoo seemed okay, she even looked elated. she was in her quiet but sassy self, that girl who had difficulty showing affection to somin actually took in little details of how somin behaved and took care of her well. most important of all — her smile; that gummy smile she had, enough to trigger the butterflies full force in somin's stomach.

somin took a quick glance at matthew, guilt eating her up.

he never ever made her feel the way jiwoo did, no matter how hard she tried to accept him into her heart. now that the latter wasn't here with her, her feelings only seemed to amplify, bad enough to choke her.

no! i can't give in to this!

however she knew she had to do something, or she will never ever move on from jiwoo.

maybe... she doesn't want me around anymore.

somin let out a sigh.

alright... i'll accept my fate.

the very device she was holding held so many precious memories of the latter. the girl scrolled through her gallery. what seemed to be happy moments were now joyful memories somin held close to her heart. stupid conversations between the girls were now precious reminiscences.

truly, the things that mattered were little actions. somin never knew something so small could weigh so much in her heart.

but somin wanted to get over her past, thus she thought it was best if she discard any item that reminded her of jiwoo. that includes her phone.

"babe, what should i get for a special lady like you on her birthday?" matthew teased somin.
"hmmm, a new phone with a new number sounds good~"
"new phone for the birthday girl, here we go!"

when she gets a new number, it would be reasonable for her to still contact jiwoo right? she'll let jiwoo know about it then.

even if the latter doesn't receive her messages.

nothing could replace jiwoo. only somin
can determine how much jiwoo mean to her;
and jiwoo meant the whole world to somin.
