Legolas's POV

The elves had returned to Mirkwood after the battle of the 5 armies. The death they had witnessed was great and the loss was uncountable.

At least my father will not be so bitter.

The thought lightened my step slightly, but the impossibly large hole in my chest was too big to ignore. It felt as if someone had ripped my heart out. I knew it would heal, just like with my mother. I just wished that Adriana was here.

"Legolas, your father wishes to speak with you. It appears to be very serious." A voice called from behind me. I turned to see the head guard.

"I can find my way. Take care of my duty here, I will return when I can." I answer.

The great halls of Mirkwood loom around me. My home, yet it did not feel homely, it felt cold, empty and lifeless almost.

"May this news not be ill..."I whispered to myself.

The great doors opened.

My father stood on the throne platform. He paced slowly from one end to the other as he contemplated something.

"My son, I have grave news concerning Adriana." My father said, getting straight to the point.

"My lord." I greeted, bowing my head. "What has happened to her?!" I asked, concern rising in my voice.

"She has fallen. After the wizard, Gandalf, had heeled her, he sought her out. He found only her newly slain corpse alongside her foes. She won her battle however." My heart sank, blood rushed to my head and life left me. I looked around but there was only black.

"Then she did not win." I spat.

-------------------

Her lifeless carcass.

That was the sight before me.

Her tomb was one of Kings. I doubted even Thranduil would receive a tomb of the splendour.

Her corpse was encased in a glass case, bound by magic so that she would not rot or age. The only lasting blemish was the sword would that could never be healed.

I turned, not wanting to see anymore. Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision. The only emotions felt was pain. It had been like this for two weeks. Two weeks and I hadn't talked to anyone, I had stayed here, with her.

Tauriel appeared at the door to Adriana's tomb.

"Legolas, it's time to face the world." She whispered. Nodding, I started to walk away. I knew this would happen, but I felt nothing.

"Do..." A noise behind me. I ignored it, and kept on walking, slowly, each step taking an age.

"Please...don..." Another noise. This time I stopped.

"Legolas, what is it?" Tauriel asked, impatient

"Please, don't leave me?" A voice whispered weakly.

I turned.

Eyes open, chest rising, heart fluttering. Adriana was alive.
