***CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: Warm Bodies ***

[Jacob]

I took the stairs two at a time in a happy stride. Angelina had planned something for us and I was excited to find out what's the surprise.

"Jacob, can I talk to you please?" I turned toward my mother whose face aged with stress. She looked a bit disheveled and she looked like she had lost a little bit of weight. I followed her to her office and took a seat across from her.

She looks at me and sighs, her lips began to tremble. I straightened up to speak but she lifted a hand, motioning me to stop. "Just let me speak please," she pleaded hoarsely. I nodded and waited patiently, my heart beating out of my chest.

"I'm sorry for not being the best mother for you. There's no excuse as to why I didn't try, as for your father that's all on him. I found out he was cheating on me and that he's been doing it for awhile. I'm sorry you were involved in this and I'm so sorry for everything," she began to sob as she apologized.

I rushed to her side and took her in my arms. I hated to see my mother cry.

Even if we didn't have the best relationship, she was always the fair one. "We're getting a divorce Jacob," she stated. I looked at her in shock.

"Divorce?" I asked. She nodded and wiped the tears from her face.

"Since the companies were in my side of the family and my parents made sure to have him sign a prenup. He gets nothing but what I give him," she laughed bitterly then looked at me.

"My parents saw it before I did but I don't regret it at all. That bastard gave me you and I'm happy," she smiled at me and sighs. I smiled back and gave her a hug one more time.

"Do we really need this big house?" I asked looking around in the office. My mother looked around and shook her head.

"We can sell it and find a nice little home, maybe that house that just went up in the market...by your girl friend's house," I looked at her with wide eyes. I'm pretty sure I didn't tell her about Angelina.

At least not yet.

She laughed and playfully slapped me on the arm. "Relax, son. I knew what you've been doing even though you don't tell me anything. And I approve of her. Better than her cousin," she stated her face contorting to disgust at the thought of Molly. I laughed agreeing on that.

"Yeah, Molly was a handful but she was a good person. She just couldn't let go of the other stuff," I said.

"I'm happy for you Jake," my mother smiled and kissed me on the cheek.

"Now go before you miss whatever you were so excited about," she laughed pushing me out of the office. I shook my head smiling and gave her a peck on the cheek.

"Thanks ma. Don't worry, I'll bring her around here soon," I promised. She nodded then waved.

"Hey babe, I'm on my way," I said to Angelina excitedly over the phone. "Alright meet me at my house," she replied. "Okay, can't wait to see you," I told her before hanging up. I wondered what she she had in mind for us.

I arrived at her house and parked my car. The door was unlocked revealing arrows leading down in the hallway. I shook my head but smiled. I made sure to lock the house then followed the arrows.

Finally, the arrow stopped at the screening room. I opened the door slowly, walking into a dark room.

"Angelina?" I called out. Then lights began to turn on and revealed a picnic set on the floor.

"Surprise!" Angelina walked toward me and kissed me. I didn't hesitate to kiss her back. "I hope you didn't mind, it's really nothing special but I just want to tell you I'm sorry and that I appreciate you," she told me, kissing my cheek. I laughed and hugged her tightly.

"I should be the one thankful for you," I spoke into her hair.

"Are you hungry?" She asked. I nodded vigorously and looked forward to the food. "How do you feel about peanut butter and jelly sandwich?" She asked with a grin. I laughed and replied,

"I love them!" She clapped her hands and gave me two sandwiches. I looked at her curiously. "You're a big boy, you need two," she stated defensively, smiling at me. We ate our dinner as we talked and laughed for hours.

"Zombies are kind of creepy, even if this one is like supposed to be a romantic comedy," Angelina whispered as she hid underneath the covers. I chuckled and shook my head.

"Well yeah, where have you seen a cute zombie?" I asked, looking at her. She shrugged, turning back to the movie. I continued to watch Warm Bodies and cuddled next to each other.

"So I have a question," I looked at Angelina and waited for her to finish. She looked at me nervously then sighs.
"W-what happened with your parents?" She asked softly. I looked at her surprised.

Out of anything in the world she asks me about my parents. I haven't really told anyone but Greg and Peter.

"I'm sorry! It's just I overheard it a long while ago when we all first met up again at that club and I feel selfish that you're going through a hard time and I didn't bother to ask and think about you," I laughed as she continued to babble on.

How could I be angry with that?

I lifted her chin up and planted a kiss on her lip. She looked at me with wonder in her eyes.

"I'll tell you everything if that's what you want," I told her. She nodded and smiled, kissing me back.

THE END

**Sorry, I know it's a sucky ending! But I decided to just finish it with that because I've been working on this story for awhile now.

I've decided not to have an epilogue Cuz I just want to leave their story as that.

Thanks to those who have stuck around and read my book! Thank y'all very much!***
