[Angelina]
I couldn't believe it! Everything was starting to fall into place. I would have never imagined I would be with someone whom taught me to love. It was hard and it seem like there was no hope, but...now I am truly happy.
"Hey! Were you listening to me?" I shook head returning back from my daydream. Hannah glared at me irritated. I couldn't help but laugh. "I'm sorry. I have been...distracted," I admitted my cheeks began to heat up.
"Are you thinking of Jacob?" She asked with a grin. I continued to blush even more. "No..." I defended but I knew she could tell I was lying. "Fine, yes I was thinking of him," I answered with a shy smile. Hannah squealed and embraced me tightly. I could barely breathe. Laughing I smacked her and urged her to let me go.
"I'm sorry," she giggled. "I am just so excited and happy for you Lina," she stated with an adored smile on her beautiful face. I smiled and embraced her as well.
"I love you Hans," I exclaimed, tears pooling in my eyes. She hurried toward me and pulled me in an embrace, her eyes tearing up as well. "I love you too Lina," we laughed with tears in our eyes.
I paced back and forth with my phone in my hand. I didn't know if I should call Jacob first or wait for him to call me. Sighing I stared at my phone again. I wonder what he's doing right now... I looked at my phone again with a heavy sigh.
"That's a heavy sigh," someone spoke from behind me. I jumped, staring wide eyed at Jacob leaning against the door. "You scared me!" I exclaimed; my hand on my chest willing it to calm down.
He grinned at me and opened his arms wide. I shook my head and rolled my eyes but walking into his arms anyway. "I'm sorry for not calling. I figured coming in person is better," he explained. I nodded and looked up at him.
"I thought that you were ignoring me," I said honestly, suddenly embarrassed. he chuckled and shook his head. "I'm not going to ignore you just because you're parents are coming home," he stated. I sighed in relief.
My parents and I, doesn't exactly have the best relationship. They have been traveling ever since I can remember and since then I accepted that they will never have time for her.
Suddenly they're coming unannounced after being gone to Paris for years. I wonder why...that's why I was nervous. A lot has happened since they have been gone and I don't know how they'll take it.
"Hey, care to share what you're thinking?" I looked up at Jacob staring back at me, curiosity in his eyes.
I shook my head and smiled. "It's nothing, really. Just nervous about seeing my parents again," I whispered.
"I know it'll be weird, but I'm here now and Hannah too," he said in assurance with a smile. I nodded and hugged him tightly.
"How about making a welcome home dinner for your parents and invite your grandmother, Hannah, and Molly?" Jacob suggested. I thought about it and nodded, "that's a good idea."
Marcy and I prepared the table then placed the food in the center. I made sure nothing was out of place and nothing was missing. Mom is a stickler for details and nothing has to be out of place.
Sighing I gave the dinning table a once over again. Smiling I looked at Marcy and thanked her. "Your parents will love it," she said in assurance giving me a hug. "I hope so," I muttered.
I smoothed my dress and straightened my hair into place. Soon the door opened and my parents came in. Jacob stood beside me with a smile, gently squeezing my waist in support. "Welcome home mom and dad," I greeted walking toward them with a smile. Honestly, they felt like strangers to me. Like a guest in our own home. It was sad.
My mother looked at me with a sad smile taking me back. She hugged me tightly holding a little bit longer. I choked back tears but felt my eyes starting to prickle. I caught a glance at my father and he too wore a sad smile. My mother let go of me then my father hugged me tightly as well.
"We've missed you baby girl," he whispered. I felt a tear fall down my cheek. I closed my eyes and smiled. "I miss you too daddy," I whispered, my voice growing hoarse. Soon my parents and I were in tears and laughing.
"Oh, who is this handsome young man?" My mother asked, turning to Jacob. I blushed not able to explain. How do I explain that I have a a boyfriend now? I don't know how they will take it.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Mason my name is Jacob Lane," he greeted with a polite smile and shaking my parents' hands. "Oh darling, call me Theresa," my mother laughed pulling Jacob into a hug. My father stayed silent his eyebrows knitted as if thinking something.
"Ah, you're Richard and Margaret's son. How are they son?" He asked, patting Jacob on the shoulder.
Hmm, I never really asked Jacob about his parents. Last time I remember from Holly was that his parents had a fight. I feel so selfish for not asking about him. I will have to talk to him about it. "They're great sir," Jacob replied with a smile but it didn't reach his eyes.
Father nodded noticing the tension about his parents. "Mm, the house smells great! Marcy what have you prepared for us?" Father greeted with a smile his eyes twinkling.
Sometimes I forget that my father absolutely loved food that's why he got into the food business and mom got into bakery. She got it from her mom the bakery where I work now.
It feels good to have my parents back even though they feel like strangers. They're still as loving as any parent.
"Ready to eat?" Jacob asked. I nodded and he led me toward the others. I looked at everyone laughing and I felt a heavy burden lifted from my chest. I felt truly happy again.
