CHAPTER 11: Les Funérailles

Kate's funeral was going to start and everyone shuffled in while outside rain was pouring.

Just in matter of seconds a breath was drawn slowly as the person walked to the casket.

His face covered in his matted hair, he never brushed because why?

His eyes had bags underneath them, he never slept a wink but she would be forever.

Jasper almost looked the same but Asher... Poor Asher looked almost dead.

Rosie is recovering from her surgery and he's moving everything from America to his father's house.

Well it's his house now that he's 18. Officially 18. Turned on the day they left. He didn't care though.

Everyone in the room watched as he walked to the front. He stood by the casket waiting for something. He picks up a paper from her hand.

What if he's asking the same questions we all were.

What if she lived? What if she'll get right up and laugh at the prank she did on everyone? What would they be doing right now if she was alive.

Well we might never know, because a minute later he walks out of the funeral, shaking his head laughing.

Haliee cries softly while Tom pats her back soothing. She shakes her head and pushes his hand away.

Kate's mom stands up and clears her throat before talking.

"So you all must have known Kate. She-she was the high spirited girl." Her voice cracks and she sniffs.

"She's gone just like her brother and sister. I'm sorry I don't usually get emotional during these except for my children's."

"Kate knew when she had to go. I was a cruel mother. I knew it and my husband knew it too. That's why she went to the Americas."

"I loved Kate. I just wasn't showing it in the best of ways. I didn't show it at all. Kate if you are listening I am truly sorry. I caused so much devastation in your life."

"I love you. I really do." She walks off and away from the podium.

A few other things were said about Kate from teachers, friends and the final talk was from her brother. The only Tyler kid left.

His talk was short but made a major blow on the crowd.

"My sister wasn't known for her emotions. She was known for her strengths and positive energy about things."

"You all should be ashamed of yourselves for acting like you 'knew her' because all of you didn't." He shakes his head and leaves.

Just like that. Gone from the room with his dead beloved sister. Just like his other sister and brother. No siblings left.

Shanti walks to the podium. "Everyone there will be food served in the main hall. And thank you for granting your bests of wishes for the Tyler family."

And just like that the story ends. Just another book closing for the viewer.
