I snap out of my reverie and turn to look at Sebastian who in return answers for me, "Yes, we sort of bumped into each other." He turns to look at me and a smirk makes its way to his beautiful face.
Looking back to his parents I can totally see the resemblance: same hazel eyes like his mother's, tall and tan like his father and black raven hair as them both.
He turns to my parents and seems to notice them for the first time and goes to greet them. "Mr. Sinclair how are you doing?" he asks as they shake hands.
My father stands up and smiles, "Great! Thank you, Sebastian. How about you?"
My mom locks eyes with me and she gestures to the now empty seat beside her. While my father chats with Sebastian I take the opportunity to move closer to my mother. Mr. and Mrs. Callahan are having a conversation so they don't mind when I walk behind them. I take the seat and my mother is almost jumping with excitement, I frown not understanding what she's so excited about.
She looks my father's way to make sure he's still in deep conversation with Sebastian and then she turns to me once again. She leans closer, "Had you met Sebastian before?" she whispers.
I shake my head and probably look confused because I still can't understand why my mom is acting this way. "What are you grinning about?" I finally ask her.
She laughs softly and grabs my hands, "Well, Sebastian keeps to himself in this sort of events. He stays with his close friends and family; he's friends with your brother as you might remember," she sighs. "I also know someone who's too shy to voluntarily meet someone new at an event," she wiggles her eyebrows at me and I can't help but laugh at her goofiness. "To answer your question, I'm happy because you two are sort of alike in that same aspect. I see a nice friendship in the making, your brother will be thrilled to see how you two hit it off!"
I mentally cringed, "Mom relax, we just met, we're no best friends whatsoever. I know nothing about him besides his name and the few things I've heard about him." I held her arms to keep her calm.
That wasn't completely true, I've actually heard a lot about Sebastian but I had never met him before. Alex likes to encourage me to explore the city that never sleeps, too bad I enjoy sleeping and staying at home. When he's had enough of my movie marathon weekends he calls to let me know I'll be going out with him and his friends. I actually enjoy going out with them, they're really nice people and really funny. Alex's girl-friends gossip a lot about Sebastian; of course I don't believe everything I hear.
From what they say, women fall at his feet but he doesn't spare them a second glance. Last time they heard of him in a relationship was years ago, it was a nasty break up. Apparently they had been a couple for a year when he discovered she was only after his money, he on the other hand had true feelings for her.
He lives in Manhattan but travels in and out of the country frequently. Now that I think about it, I remember the girls said he was thirty-three. I scoff at my foolishness; why would he look my way? He's older, way too handsome to be real, successful and has women throwing themselves at him.
I join the present once again just in time to see my father turn around and gesture for me to join them. "Excuse me, I'll go see what dad wants," I say quietly to my mother and smile at her. I stand up and walk towards the two men. Suddenly I feel shy around Sebastian and keep my head low when I reach them. I stand beside my father and briefly look up at him, "Yes dad?" I ask.
He hugs me sideways and see him smile, "Why don't you go find your brother and tell him dinner is about to be served. All of us will be sittings together."
